    Another Person With Wifi Issues

    Hello Everyone!

I just got a TF101 and I can't even get the tablet to connect to my wifi router (Belkin G-Wireless Router) from initialing turning the tablet on for the first time; it just hangs on the screen showingthe tablet searching for my network and trying to connect. I decided to skip this process and went straight to the desktop, went to settings, wireless & networks, to try and connect from there.

Once again, my network showed full strength on the list of choices given to me, I entered my password (even tried the pin code on the router), the signal strength dropped to non-existent and
the tablet proceeded to try to connect to my network with no avail.

I have tried connecting with encryption off; did not work.

I have rebooted the router and my modem; did not work.

I am really at a loss here. Has anyone else had issues like these, trying to connect their TF to their network for the first time?

    Welcome to the forum

You said you set the router up with no encryption so I assume that means you should not have needed any password. My first suggestion would be to do a hard reset of your TF. (link below) then follow the directions on connecting to WiFi. There is usually a logical explanation. Just a matter of finding it.

The TF seems to prefer lower channels too - try setting the Channel of the router to 1 or 6

Thank you for your response. I have tried connecting to my wifi with encryption on and off. I have also done a hard reset of my TF and was unsuccessful with fixing the issue. I followed the instructions from the link you have posted on your signature - sans changing the channels. the router doesn't give me that option - and each step has failed so far. But I did notice something very interesting: my Nexus S is having the same issue with my router that my TF is. I think I am going to try out another router I have laying around and see how that works out.

Newer router = likely better router and will benefit all wireless devices in the long run.

    Detection:

My current router is a Belkin G-Wireless Router Model F5D7234-4 v4.

Luckily I have a few gift cards to best buy and a new router won't cost me a dime.

From the manual of your router. Shows you can change the channel, it appears the default is auto which is not a good choice. If it was me I would use 1 or 6.

Also you may need to reset your router to factory default with thereset button, but only if you are comfortable with redoing all the setup infromation to connect back to your ISP.

Now that you have it fixed you can play with your old one. Maybe reload/update firmware, if possible putt DDWRT on it. If you get it working than you have a backup or you can sell it on EBAY and recoup some of the cost for the new router.

    Glad all is well, enjoy.
