ASUS Eee Pad Slider To Be Released at End of September for $475

The newest Asus tablet, the Eee Pad Slider will soon be released. According to reports, the device should start hitting store shelves at the end of September. The Honeycomb powered device will come in a 16GB and 32GB variety and sell for $475 and $575 respectively. Here's a refresher of the primary specs:
    • 10" IPS Display (1280x800)
    • Dual Core Tegra 2 Processor
    • Android 3.2
    • 1.2MP Front Camera and 5MP Rear Camera with flash
    • Mini-HDMI, Mini-USB, and MicroSD slots
    • Bluetooth & WiFi

Engadget got some "hands-on" time with the tablet, and had some positive things to say. They indicated that the device looked quite elegant in person, and appeared to have a strong build quality, among other things. You can see their video, some more pics and get more about their impressions at the source link below.

Maybe if you could detach the tablet from the keyboard, but I really don't understand why anyone would prefer this to the TF!

Looks nice but I would take the Transformer over this every time.

Wouldn't mind this form factor if it had an intel i5 inside, 4gb of memory, a 500gb hard drive, and was running win8. As it is I don't need another android tablet.

you mean the TF has the extra battery right? because the Slider doesn't.

I just got my TF about a month ago. I knew the slider was coming out. I watched a video on it and read a bit about it but I still wanted the TF. I like being able to leave the keyboard at home when I don't need to use it. I don't always need the extra weight in my purse.

UPS will be dropping off my Slider sometime today. I decided I'd give one a hard look, and see if the keyboard arrangement is better or worse than that of my Transformer+dock. Given bluetooth android keyboards are $69 or less, and the Transformer alone is $399, the $469 I paid for the Slider seems a resonable starting price. I'll have to see if the keyboard keys are full size or smaller, and how well they work compared to most bluetooth android keyboards.
