Asus Eee Pad Transformer 3G price starts at 499 Euros

Those lamenting the lack of a 3G version of the hugely popular Eee Pad Transformer version will be able to have it soon. For the Transformer with 3G capabilities built into it has landed up in the Italian site for Asus with prices too being mentioned. On offer are two versions with 16 and 32 GB of on-board memory. Price for the 16 and 32 GB versions as mentioned is €499 and €599 respectively, both inclusive of VAT. In equivalent dollar terms, the price comes out to about $710 and $850, both being a bit on the higher side.

There is no mention of when the 3G enabled Transformer will reach markets though its expected to happen sometime in August. Also, Asus hasn’t yet revealed when the tablet would reach other parts of the world. The Transformer is already one of the best selling Android Tablet and the latest move on part of Asus to bring in the 3G version is expected to rake in more numbers.

Everything else with the tablet remains identical with the Wi-Fi version of the Transformer. So there will be the same 10.1 inch 1280 x 800 resolution display, 1 GHz Nvidia Tegra II processor, 1 GB of RAM, a 1.2 megapixel and 5 megapixel camera built into the front and rear of the tablet along with a 3.3Ah battery. The Transformer already comes equipped with Wi-Fi while on the left side of the tablet lies the SIM card slot.

US prices have the same numbers as European prices, e.g. the current TF 101-32GB price is 499 euro's in Europe and $ 499 in the US.
So based on the prices mentioned in the previous post, the 3G versions for 16GB resp. 32GB would become $499 resp $599, which is $100 above the current (non-3G) versions.
Apparently Asus makes it's money not with the basic TF101-16GB version, but with the extra's: $100 for extra 16GB, $100 for the dock, $100 for 3G.

Not sure how reliable the term "soon" is in those announcements....

New accessories (like the mini HMDI to VGA adapter) on the Italian site were supposed to be "soon" in the U.S....yet 60 days later...they are still nowhere to be found.

The slider version tablet was supposed to be coming "soon" in the U.S. based on the Asian Conference, yet the latest news it is delayed...

I suspect soon is 4Q 2011 at the earliest.

Why are people worried about the 3g when you can tether from phone. Its an additional sim card and additional costs.

    Transformer 3G release

I live in Taiwan and I saw a pricesheet today for the 3G version in a tech shop in Tainan. The release date was August. If anyone wants anymore info, I can probably get a shot of the poster. I just got my WiFi one the other day, so I'm still learning the ropes. Included were the accessories and their prices, not sure if the date was on the poster or not.

Do you know how long take to empty the Galaxy S with tethering...? Anyway I want to split device functions (mostly girlfriend's cause).

    Hi guys.
Any idea if the Taiwan model will have an English manual etc?
Also what sites over in Taiwan will have the Asus transformer 3G model?
    Thanks in advance.
