[Rumor] Asus Transformer Pad Infinity Coming Late June or Early July

We have a pretty solid rumor that the Transformer Pad Infinity from Asus may actually hit U.S. retail shelves in late June or early July. A spokesperson from Asus supposedly confirmed as much to PC World Magazine on Wednesday. Here's a refresher on the spec sheet of this high-end behemoth:
    • 10.1-inch display (1920-by-1200 pixels) - with wide 178 degree viewing angle
    • Android 4.0
    • Optional 3G/4G mobile broadband connectivity
    • Quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 chip for gaming & Multimedia focused models
    • Dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 chip for models with 3G/4G LTE connectivity
    • Corning's Gorilla Glass 2 technology
    • 8-megapixel camera on the back with LED flash
    • 2-megapixel front camera
    • 10 hours of battery life - can be extended to 16 hours with an optional ultra-thin keyboard dock (with built-in battery and a full QWERTY keyboard)
    • The tablet weights 586 grams, which goes up to 1.1 kilograms with the dock.
    • Up to 64GB of storage
    • A micro-SD card reader and a USB port
    • HDMI (high-definition multimedia interface) port

Asus really is trying hard to throw everything but the kitchen sink into making this one a hard-core competitor to the iPad. Obviously many of us here in the forums view the Asus Transformer tablets in a much higher light than the iPad, but from a marketshare point-of-view, could this new one from Asus actually start stealing some of that marketshare? Share your ideas.

Less battery than the TF101, will not switch.

This reason itself is enough to don't switch since it's the most important thing to me for my work.

    Thumbs up Advertising pays

I have no doubt that this will be a superb product - I just hope the advertising gets the message across. It does no good at all hope that it will sell itself. The few in the know will want one, and they can advocate, but to move the millions that will make this compete with the iPad will take a concerted, sustained and engaging advertising campaign that highlights the benefits and advantages of the Infinity in particular, and ASUS and Android in general.

Most consumers don't know one operating system from another so to capture their imagination the emphasis should be placed on the unique benefits (to them) of the Asus Transformer product.

Some slick advertising would be required to make it a competitor to the iPad, thats all that is needed, hardware wise its all there, but Apple advertise the crap out of their stuff and thats the reason it sells

But it seems they have kinda given up on it before its release by announcing similar windows tablets, silly if you ask me

I'm eagerly waiting for the Infinity to be released and am looking forward to giving Android a try. I have an EP121 tablet which I like very much, but I tend to not use it as much as I thought due to the limited battery life and lack of keyboard. The Prime would work too, but I figure I'll wait for the new model for the improved WiFi and GPS reception. So now I'm playing the waiting game like I did for the EP121 and the HP Slate 500 before that. LOL
