Asus Releases Promo Video for the PadFone

Asus just release their newest promo video for the upcoming PadFone phone-tablet-lapdock-combo. The video is somewhat raw. The last half of the video is a repeat of the first half without audio, but it's still a great way to show off the potentially innovative new device. Here's a partial spec recap:
    • Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich
    • Snapdragon S4 dual-core processor at 1.5GHz
    • 4.3" Super AMOLED qHD display (the tablet features a 10.1" display, no word on resolution)
    • 8MP rear shooter (featuring a 5-element f/2.2 lens)
    • Stylus/Headset accessory
    • Over 14,000mAh battery power between the pad, phone, and dock

What do you guys think of this device? Is it a game-changing must-have gadget, a flash-in-the-pan gimmick, or something in-between?

There's loads of information on the padfone on google!
Suffice too say, it's a great concept but already out of date as a handset. SGS 3 is massively higher spec and will be out first....

    Lol

LOL, "two devices one data plan"

Good luck with that. I know that on Verizon, at least, using the Motorola Atrix in its docking station required you pay their extra tethering fee.

The cell carriers will use any excuse to rob you blind.

umm... thats with atrix, but with the padfone, all the procesing power, antena and everything will be in the phone, the tablet only has screen size, battery, speakers, front camera and stuff like that, so it wont need tethering because all the data will be in the phone.

that 102 hrs of use is impressive tho, but i dont think it will be of continuous use of the tablet, it will be of the phone, then move the phone to tablet and the phone will charge from it or from the dock.

Hmmm, holding the tablet up to your ear when you get a phone call might get some stares!
