Exclamation Fixed my black screen issue:

I am in no way a tech background, but I managed to fix my brand new Asus TX201LA only 22 days after I had purchased it, and it had seemed to lock up completely. Nothing I tried would allow Windows to come up, and then Android stopped working too. I contacted Asus Tech support, spent 3 hours late at night with them, and they recommended that I send it back in to them, and sent me an RMA # to do so. This would mean potentially weeks of down time for me, and I'm in college full time, an official 'note taker' for disability students, and was actually looking at buying another laptop just to be able to function in the interim....!

I stopped by my college computer store, who are Asus dealers and reps, and spoke with one of the young men there. He happened to mention that there were "two batteries" in the Transformer model, and he asked whether I had charged both of them. Huh?

I had been using the larger transformer charger to charge the laptop with tablet docked and checking the battery life would show that both Windows and Android were fully charged. But apparently this may not be the case. He recommended that I separate the two pieces of the unit and charge them individually, using the larger transformer for the keyboard/Windows unit, and the smaller transformer, which was still in the box, for the tablet. I did that, and by morning when I put the two together, guess what? Windows boot screen, all files intact. OMG...!

Mind you, I had tried everything with Asus Tech - F9, turn off this unit, turn on that one, all sorts of things, and nothing worked.

According to my new best friend (yes, I brought him a present of coffee, muffin, and a new wrapped coffee mug emblazoned with 'GENIUS' on it at 9 a.m. the next day!) even though the two pieces show as fully charged, the tablet may not be.

I may not have explained this well, or perhaps my understanding of just how and why this worked is incorrect, but I have my laptop back, including crucial notes taken in class.

Hope this helps SOMEONE! And yes, I'm a grandma, not that you were asking...!
