If you only plan to use windows, try the transformer book or the surface pro 2 which are better!

Concerning SSD, it is not complicated to install it on the trio: but you should get a high quality torx t5 screwdriver.
Personnaly I used a Samsung evo 256go ssd. In order to successfully obtain a good clone of the original hard disk, the SSD must be at least 256GO. Moreover, in order to clone the HD, you should use the most recent version of Acronis 2014 (which can reactivate windows with W8 licence present in the bios).
Is this the drive you used; only 250 GB not 256. Amazon.com: Samsung Electronics 840 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5-Inch SATA III Single Unit Version Internal Solid State Drive MZ-7TE250BW: Computers & Accessories

Will a 128GB SSD work? It should in theory.

Is the Hard drive accessible from the bottom via a separate door or does this require complete disassemble?

Do you know approx boot time difference with stock HD compared to SSD?

Paragon 12 can do this for free with the trial edition.

    There is no separate door.

The main drawback of this trio is: a standard hard disk and not a SSD. Windows 8 is very slow with this HD. I changed it by a SSD and now everything is GREAT !!
Some others small issues with the integrated ASUS keyboard, but not very important.

I recommand this TRIO : very good idea!
I'd like to replace my HDD with an SSD. I removed all ten screws on the back of the Trio but the case didn't want to separate. It did, but only halfway. Any guidance?

Looks like major surgery. This stinks.

trio screws.jpgDo not replace HD with a 128 go SSD: this is not possible to make a clone disk with this one. You should have at least 200GO. Yes, I bought the Samsung evo 840 250GO. In order to make a clone you should use ACRONIS 2014 and not previous versions, since the serial of Windows is included inside the BIOS. A recent software is needed in order to clone correctly the HD.

Do not forget the two screws below the two pieces of rubber (I do not know it's name in English) which are next to the upper part of the keyboard. This is the reason why you cannot open it. Please look to the photo above. Then you will just carrefully open the keyboard piece.

Solved How to Migrate OS to new Hard disk.

    Paragon Backup & Recovery Home

With standard HS: boot time 45 seconds
With my Samsung SSD : boot time 7 seconds

Everybody should change with a SSD: this is another world!

Thanks for the info. I am going to try the paragon method first as it is free and advertises the same features as acronis for cloning win 8 bios and serials.
