T200ta Not charging or turning on

Hello, I just bought a refurbished t200ta. When I recieved it the battery was completely flat and I had trouble charging it. Had it plugged in for 8 hours and eventually the tablet came on.
I've been using it for a few days and today noticed the battery was completely flat (seems to drain very fast in sleep mode, docked).
I tried turning it on and it shows the battery status icon (which is at its lowest and empty)on screen for a second then clicks off.
I tried different holding down power buttons for 1min etc to see if that would do anything and still did the same. I tried different plug sockets still nothing.
So i left it charging for over 24 hours and tried the next day. still does the same thing. Screen turns on for a split second showing an empty battery icon then turns off.

When I have the power plugged in it shows an orange led (on the cover ). I find it odd that I cant power on the device even when its plugged in, it seems that the battery needs to be fully charged to turn on, is this the case.
Is there a way to turn on the tablet using the power adapter and bypass the battery (as its drained/empty)

Any advice is appreicated. I guess i could return it as its only a few days old but I upgraded to windows 10 on it and plus it has my email login details etc, dont want to send off login details to some random person.

    Cheers

Hi thanks for replying. ok i looked up what trickle charge was. but I dont think the t200ta can charge via its usb port. Would I be correct in assuming this. When I plug a usb charger in to its usb port the tablet doesnt show any indication that its charging. Whereas the led shows orange when the ac adapter is plugged in.
Or do i have to buy a usb to whatever the ac adapter uses.

    cheers

Plug your charging cable from your T200 into a 5v/500ma charging point - a phone charger or other similarly rated source. E.G. a powered on & not sleeping PC.

Leave it connected for 12 hours & then try your regular charger for 8 hours.

Look at the charging/battery FAQ thread for the T100 (see the T100 FAQ link in my signature) "Battery LED, care, maintenance & charging issues resolution." - the T200 is just its bigger brother.

Hi thanks for your advice. I'm kind of struggling to follow along with your advice. As my power cable can only connect from the unit to the wall socket.

When you say charging cable is this a seperate cables because when I bought mine it just arrived in a generic cardboard box and the power ac adapter. Nothing else, no manual, original box etc. Kinda annoyed as that was not in description when I bought the thing. But does that mean Im missing this 'charging cable.

    Thanks

Well in that case you can't trickle charge it unless you buy a different cable!

Just change your login details elsewhere on a different PC & return it.

This is exactly what I fear too; once the battery is dead you cant use the device, even when plugged in. It always checks battery status, even when plugged in. So far I found no way to bypass it. Idiotic design.

Hi, So since a few weeks back I have been taking my tablet apart and trying different meathods to get it working. After exhausting alot of possibilities I end up buying a new charger, in the hopes that my one was faulty. New charger doesnt do anything. still not turning on or charging by this point the battery is completely dead no icon screen.
I then buy a new battery and install that. Yipee tablet turns on, battery came with 60% charge. Im thinking sweet it works. So i put it on charge and windows says its plugged in and charging. awesome. Leave it for a few hours and come back. The battery has dropped to 55% or something. hmm thats odd. Leave it charging over night try it the next day, its down to 48%.

So im now thinking its the port its self but why is windows saying its charging.
When its plugged it and im using the tablet it seems like at that point its holding its charge % but not increasing or decreasing. Im very confused.
I took some battery reports with the charger in and was wondering if someone who knows about this stuff can see if its a definite hardware issue or perhaps a software thing, as this seemed to have started since I upgraded the OS to windows 10.

I have uploaded 2 battery reports to

    EDIT

the part that i find odd is the reading below when charging

    Voltage 7,324 millivolts
    Charge/Discharge Rate 1,466 milliwatts

If i unplug the "Charge/Discharge Rate" reads somthing aroung minus 1000 milliwatts.

Any advice would be great as I just bought this tablet and barely used it but cos I was a silly boy and took it apart I cant return it.

    Thanks for reading
