T200TA Transformerboolk bricked after reset Windows 10 TPM Screen

    Hi all,

After extensive searching the internet and trawling these forums I have found no solution to my problem.

    I was trying to reset Windows 10 on my T200 as I've just sold it and wanted to clean everything off. I used the standard Windows 10 option of "reset this pc" from settings. This worked fine until it went to a black screen with white text;

"A configuration change was requested to clear this computers TPM (Trusted Platform Module)

WARNING: Clearing erases information stored on the TPM. You will lose all created keys and access to data encrypted by these keys.

Press F12 or Volume Up to clear the TPM
Press ESC or Volume Down to reject this change request and continue"

The issue comes when the computer will accept no response of any form from me. It's just completely unresponsive in every way. I have tried pressing ESC or F12, pressing the physical volume buttons on the tablet, restarting by holding the power button, attempting to enter the bios by pressing volume up and power, volume down and power, the centre of the volume buttons and power, plugging an external keyboard in to bothe the keyboard dock and the side of the tablet and all of the above key combinations, holding F2 when powering on.

I have even removed the plastic case from the rear of the tablet and removed the battery connection to try and access the bios. None of this works and I now have a 150 paper weight which I can't send to my buyer :/

Any other suggestions that I could try to get this this working again? I can't remove the eMMC as its hard soldered the the MB.

    Thanks
    Rich

What a difficult spot to be in! Well, looks like you're going to have to RMA your T200. The first things anyone reading this should do when they take their Transformer out of the box are:

    1. Disable TPM.
    2. Disable Secure Boot.
    3. Turn off encryption on Windows.

These extra security features have caused nothing but trouble since their introduction. Besides, the risks of having sensitive data stolen is minimal compared to all the headache you get when you try to change the OS in any way.

    Hi,

    Thanks for the reply.

Of course if I'd known that then I would have done that, but no clear instructions for normal consumers. Typical Microsoft shabby rubbish!

I bought this one secondhand from eBay, what's the odds of Asus taking it back?

Well, there's no harm in trying. You can try and make them see it wasn't your fault at all. This just sort of happened to you because of their incompetence. They're the ones who screwed up. After all, you did but a simple OS operation which is 100% supported by Microsoft and part of Windows itself! And there's the fact that other customers are probably facing the same issues, but getting their computers fixed on their own. This whole thing might be costing users a hell of a lot of money. If you ever find a solution, please let me know!

Have you tried "Fn key + F12" key combination?

Yes, FN+F12 and every other key combination known to man 🙄

I'll try and RMA it when I get some time, thanks for the responses.

    Have you found a solution?
    Has anyone found a solution?
I am here, in 2018, with a T300L with the same issue, a lot of work to do and a non-functional piece of metal...
