    Help Please T200 Light Bleed

    Hi there,

I thought I would ask the expertise of the community on this one. I just bout a T200 and am noticing a light bleed at startup and when a black screen is on. I just wanted to ask if this is normal or should I return/RMA it.

    Your help is much appreciated.

    +1 ^^^^
...and you see it only when you really look for it.
... and you do that only when the tablet is new. You'll never notice it again. Promised.

T200TA LCD light leak, light bleeding from edges on black or dark screen

Has anyone notice a light leak around the edges of their T200 when the screen is showing dark colors? Mine is pretty bad, almost like a little reading LED light in spots. This is particularly noticeable when the computer first boots up on the ASUS screen but I can see it other times as well. It isn't very noticeable during normal use unless the screen is particularly dark colors, black or dark blue are pretty bad. Normal Netflix and web surfing don't show much.

Does your screen bleed light when displaying dark colors?

Llight bleed is an unavoidable fact of life with any backlit screen. In normal use even on a device where it is worse than normal as you have discovered it should be almost unnoticeable - what you are experiencing is normal, but it does sound as if your device is one of those examples which is pretty poor. Probably why it had been returned and was sold as an "open box" product. Some devices will be better than others, but light bleed is a fact of life with IPS/backlit screens.

Thanks for the input, I bet your right.

I sent this picture to Asus, they said it was excessive and suggested I send the unit in for evaluation/repair. It's a hard call since it isn't really an issue during normal use and I don't want to get caught up with a lengthy or expensive "repair" either.

Good to see this, I hadn't seen this thread when I posted my similar thread this morning about the exact same thing...

Mine has pretty bad light bleed when the black splash screen is up, but really, almost un-noticeable when in normal use unless "I'm looking for it". Kinda a bummer that the first thing you see on the splash screen when Asus is trying to impress you is a terrible light bleed.

I sent a picture of mine to Asus and they said it looked to be more than it should and they offered to check it out/repair if necessary. I have an RMA number but I'm thinking I might just get over it now that I see others perform the same.
