Only powers on with mains power?
I think my T200 is now getting on towards 2 years old. It has not been used on battery much at all, mainly powered by the adapter. I took it on holiday to play movies but it would only power up when the mains adapter is plugged in. If no adapter is connected the power button has no effect, i.e. no white light on and the backlight on the screen doesn't power up. The battery meter says about 92% (when powered by adapter) and when charger plugged in it says charging.
So any ideas if I have a setting wrong somewhere (Win 8.1) or is the battery in need of replacement? If so anyone recommend a supplier of a new battery. I am happy to have a go at replacing the battery if I can find a youtube vid.
Thanks for any help you can give.

Welcome to the forum
I'm sorry to say that you have no-one to blame for this failure but yourself. We repeatedly state here over and over again that if you use a device such as the T200 permanently or almost always connected to a/c power you will damage the battery. That is what you have done and you will likely need to replace the battery.

Just to add if you power it on by the mains and then pull the power plug and it goes off almost immediately or with in a few minutes then for sure it's the battery.

Thanks for the answer. You are quite right that my usage has killed the battery. Unfortunately I had not previously had issues with the T200 so had never needed the support from the forum.
Only having read the instructions it makes no mention of charge routines. I was under the misconception that the manufacturer would have included battery management components in their charge system. As you may know li-ion batteries can be VERY dangerous if miss-charged.
Oh well you live and learn.
Any recommended replacement batteries? Depending on the price I may just keep it with a non functioning battery as it mainly gets used on mains power. It saved me getting moaned at when it wont work and needs charging! It's on the misses treadmill, mainly for spotify. So while it may get used an hr a day for a month it then might not get used for a few weeks. Hence me keeping the mains plugged in so it's always ready to go....Saves ear ache :-)
Thanks for your help.

Cheers. Yep that's how it goes. Pull power off it goes. Do you know any sources of replacement batteries or is it just an ebay job? I assume changing the battery is similar to the T100?
Thanks

I would just do a search for ASUS T200 battery, it's been around long enough that there are probably multiple sources. Look for the most reasonable price.

Hi,
I have similar problem but i can't boot with the power adapter. Screen light on but it never boots. So, i bought a new battery and now i can boot the T200 but only with the power supply. Light show that system is charging the battery but it's not.
Any clue?
Thanks and excuse my very bad english.
