    booting from sd slot?

Has anybody figured out how to boot via microSD? I was able to boot from the card in a USB card reader, but same card won't boot from the SD slot.

Actually it can be done , but I can't make out from your post whether you were able to do it and the same card won't work now? Is that the case? If you did it properly and made a bootable Windows sdcard, you can definitely have an sdcard boot on windows provided that particular drive has to appear in your bios to boot from as an option.

Sorry if I confused you. If I put the card into a USB card reader I can boot from it, but not if I just have it in the microSD slot.

Got you , have you tried to see if the boot options let you choose the micro sd slot as a drive when the card is in? If not it won't let you boot from it. I have feeling you have to manually select the drive of the sd card to try to boot from it, in the boot options.

I hope it can be done, but I was under the impression that you cannot choose the microSD slot to boot from in the BIOS. Hopefully I am incorrect.

If you are just looking for a way to be able to boot from USB without needing the docking station readily available, then I would suggest getting one of these.

I use this SanDisk Dual USB drive that I found at Wal-Mart for like $15usd to boot Ubuntu. It works great and you can also use it with most smartphones and tablets to transfer files back and forth.
    Hope this helps,

Yeah, that's what I've been trying to do, but I haven't seen it show up as a boot option.

This has microUSB on one end and full USB on the other? Clever.

yeah I was shocked when I found out, I was in there looking for a stylus when I bought it but I originally thought that it was a connector to let you plug a full USB into a tablet, like a mouse or DVR drive that needed a full USB 2.0. I was upset at first when I found out that it was only a USB memory stick, but it has proven itself to be a very useful tool time and time again.
