    Linux on T200

Has anyone tried to run any Linux version with T200?
I know there were some successfully installed on T100

I would really like to be able to run some Linux off of USB or micro SDXC (dual boot) or parallel via virtual Box inside Windows. Anyone has any luck so far with Linux?

Bought one of these for my wife for Christmas with the intention of putting Mint or Ubuntu on it (she prefers Mint). Spent several hours trying to get it to boot into the live USB, finally managed it. Wireless doesn't work at this point on Mint 17.1 but am going to keep perservering. Anyone else had any luck?

I have to say that I followed the spirit of Ubuntu (or other Linux) on the Asus Transformer Book T100 | John Wells which was very useful. Bit of a kludge, but it worked.

    Any advice very gratefully received.

    Hello,

I'm trying to do the same on my T200, could I ask you how you managed to boot on the live USB ? I've tried it several time, with rufus and the custom boot file of the tutorial but it won't boot...

    Thank you very much,
    SamyB

Hey my T200 is in root, should be here anyday now......

Anyway i hope this will help you out. I found it on a German forum.

Step 1: Attach a bootable USB device to the USB port.
Step 2: Swipe in from the right and then tap Settings.
(If you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, and then click Settings.)
Step 3: Tap or click Change PC Settings.
Step 4: Tap or click Update and recovery, and then tap or click Recovery.
Step 5: Under Advanced Startup, tap or click Restart now.
Step 6: On the Choose an option screen, tap or click Use a device.
Step 7: On the Troubleshoot screen, tap or click Advanced options.
Step 8: On the Advanced options screen, tap or click the name of the USB device. It will restart and boot from the USB device.

I really hope this will will work as i need to run Ubuntu 12.04.3 LTS on it. So either way when i get it i will find out the hard way.

Please let me know if this works and if it does please feel free to give some thanks.

    Hello Chadder43,

Thank you for your response. I have already tried to do this, with many version of linux and I've tried to add customized boot files after making the LiveUSB with rufus. But all my tries have failed.. Every time I reboot in the "USB Device" mode, it gets stuck during a while and then boot on the Windows Boot Loader.. :@ ! I've disabled Secure Boot an tried to Enable/Disable fast boot but it won't work.

In your signature I can see that you put Ubuntu 12.04 on your T200. Have you really managed to do it or is it by anticipation ? :P

I would really like to know how you did if you succeeded

    Many Thanks,
    SamyB

Have a look here for some ideas. https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Wi...eShootingGuide
It could be as simple as toggling on your WiFi, usually a F key at the top of the keyboard, have a look. It could be more complicated like having to find the correct drivers for Ubuntu.

Oh I can't understand why I'm the only one not being able to do this. I've followed dombov method step by step and I really dont know what to do.. Can you give me some details about how you did it ? Like what version of ubuntu you exactely used ? Did you compile bootia32.efi on your own ?

    Many thanks,
    SamyB

I know this is gonna sound weird but i asked about this with my friend he is in germany and working now. All he said was what distro are you using? Amd64? Or the intel x86 distro? Partition scheme and file ststem on the usb stick? And he will message me when he gets home. I had problems with some code and couldnt get git to show it to him correctly so i sent it to him to fix for me and it is now running ubuntu 12.04.3 LTS 64bit

    * Touchscreen not very great.
    But:
*Shutdown and physical tablet buttons works

My kernel version is 3.17.7 patched by someone on Google+ Asus t100 community..
