Issues and doubts with a new Asus Transformer Book T101HA-G030T

    Dear friends:
    How are you?

First of all, I want to apologize for my english. I am from Spain.

The other day I bought an Asus Transformer Book T101HA G030T
    2 in 1 tablet.
Intel X5, 4 gb RAM and 128 gb eMMC.

After first start up, I decided to search for updates.

First time ... 38 updates including OS and preinstalled apps.
My surprise was ... between three hours or so to download and install updates.

This past Friday, another Windows update.
Again, between three or four hours to install the update)s).

My main doubt ... is this normal? I mean ... So much time to do it?

Yesterday I asked two sellers in different shops and they told me that this is not an Android tablet.
Windows requires big updates and they are huge sometimes.
UNfortunately I cannot size the exact size of the updates when they are being downloaded.

They told that these devices have low specs (processor, memory, ...) and it is normal that when I wanted to update the
tablet, Windows need to download a lot of patches and updates since the day this device was launched.

For me it is a lot of time, but if this is true, I can understand.
They recommended me to switch off Windows updates for the next time.

Many thanks in advance for your helping.
    Have a nice day.

    Regards:

    Carlos.

If the PC was on the shelf for a long time it may be 2 or more updates behind. MS sends updates out at least once a month for quick fixes, and up to 2 or more times a year for a mass update.
The quick fixes should only take a hour or less depending on how many are missing.
The mass update may take up to 2 hours.
DO NOT disable update it keeps your PC safe.

    Many thanks for your answer.
Then I must not be worried for this.

    It seems normal, right?

It was my doubt for the long time required to install those updates.
Yes, I noticed in the second update that other icons were located on the left side and some aesthetics changes.

Hi Rider, apologies about the troubles. As helpifIcan had mentioned, if the device spent some time on the shelf then it will have pending updates to complete. Some takes time, others not so much. It is always better to leave automatic updates on as it keeps your device secure.

I never had a Windows based tablet and I was really surprised how long it took to download and install updates.

Very different from Android ones, of course.

Yes, I will keep automatic updates enabled.
I have to do regular backups to avoid problems in the future.

    Very grateful for your help.

    Have a nice day.
