T100TA: no audio after Windows 10 1909 update
I recently received a T100TA notebook my daughter had used for the past 4 years ago after she got a newer model. I decided to bring the Windows version up-to-date and, after failing to make an in-place update work (lack of disk space seemed to be the issue), I did a fresh Windows install from USB media. All seemed to go well and the new machine works fine - except that there is no sound. I have tried various things over the past few days without success:
- Checked for updated drivers for Intel SST Audio Device (WDM)
- Checked for updated drivers for Realtek I2S Audio Codec
- Check all audio services were running correctly and restarted them
- Uninstalled and reinstalled audio drivers
- Tried installing Windows 8.1 Realtek drivers
- Updated the BIOS to 3.14
- Ran Windows Repair
- Ran the Audio Troubleshooter - which finally reported 'Audio services not responding'
Any attempt to access the sound settings results in along delay, indicating that the system is struggling to work with audio. However, nothing else seems to indicate a problem.
I'm now wondering whether to try another fresh install of Windows or whether there is a problem with this release of Windows on the T100TA (though I can't find anyone else reporting it), or even if this is really a hardware fault.
Is anyone else running Windows 10 release 1909 on a T100TA successfully? Does anyone have any other suggestions of things to try to restore the audio?

Try going to ASUS drivers and use one that is earlier such as one for win8.1.

Thanks. I tried that and installed the Windows 8.1 Realtek drivers from the ASUS site - but it seemed to make no difference.

If you want to you could try reinstalling windows with the save data & apps option. Might be something in windows that is corrupted.

Thanks. I've downloaded and installed Windows 10 again but with the same result. No sound and the Audio Troubleshooter reporting 'Audio services not responding'. There appears to be some incompatibility between the T100TA and Windows 10 version 1909 unless someone else can confirm that they have this combination working.

Yes mine is working fine!
Check your Intel SST audio device mine is 603.9600.1948.404940 date 4/2/2014
Realtek codec 6.4.10041.4257 date 5/5/2015
version 1909 build 18363.657

My installation shows:
- Intel SST Audio Device (WDM) driver version = 604.10154.1010.4947 (04-Aug-2015)
- Realtek I2S Audio Codec driver version = 6.4.10147.4290 (09-Jul-2015)
- Windows 10 version 1909 build 18363.693
I've applied all Windows updates and the same drivers are reinstalled if I delete them.

Looking at the two sets of drivers, it seems that the biggest difference is in the Intel SST Audio Device driver versions. Searching for references to my driver version I found a community support post that reports a problem with my version and advises reverting to one of two earlier versions: 603.9600.2801.45084 [27-6-2014] or version: 603.9600.1948.25487 [30-9-2013] (the second of which almost matches yours).
I searched for this second driver and found it in a package located here: http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/nb/..._32_VER112.zip. After installing this package my sound reappeared!
Many thanks for your help in tracking this problem down and giving a new lease of life to my T100.

You're welcome glad you are back to normal.
Just an FYI the other issue that pops up is the camera stops working, caused by the same issue. This may have been fixed as I have not had the issue for awhile.

biterbit, thank you for your diligence and for taking the time to share your findings.
Just did a clean install of Win 10 2004 to my T100TA (32GB) and was facing both 'No Audio' AND 'No Driver' for the TPM 2.0 device.
The VER112 driver package you provided the link to solved both!
