T100 as a 'Desktop'
Going to be cutting the umbilical cord shortly with my WinXP desktop and moving
to my T100 as a 'desktop replacement'.
This is for OS/speed reasons.
T100 has Win 8.1 and is much faster than my Pentium-M on my desktop.
Desktop has WinXP.
Big problem though is that my desktop has a 160G drive and my
T100 has 32G flash memory, 3G free now.
Any tips you could offer if any here use their T100 as their main computer?
I've got the monitor/keyboard thing worked out.
Nice 24" monitor and full-sized keyboard/mouse.
TIA

I use the SSD in the T100 only for programs as C drive and then I have a 64 Gb mSD(I wanted a 128Gb but could not make it work) in the slot as E drive for data files. On top of that I use OneDrive cloud for some files, that I want to share with my W7 computer. You can also connect a disk or memory stick to the USB3 connector.
Your old disk can be placed in a docking station directly and connected via USB
But be aware of the limited 1 Gb RAM memory in the T100.
You could also buy a NAS remote disk, that could connect via WiFi.
I have problems with Chrome eating RAM memory, if I open several windows. ( But then I do have a lot of Chrome apps installed)

Thanks for the tips!
Could you expand a bit more on the HD in a docking station?
I have a standard 3.5" PATA HD. When I want to use extra ones that I bought, I just plug them into
a case that has a USB connector. I connect that to my desktop and I have access to extra backup/storage space.
Would this case take the place of a 'docking station'?

Get something like this,
https://www.amazon.com/Converter-Ada...to+usb+adapter
Make sure you get one with external power supply so the external drive doesn't draw power from the T100.
Rick, loving my T100TA-C1-GR Z3740 64GB Win 10
BIOS 314. All Windows updates except Bing. All Asus Live Updates. WIFI driver 5.93.99.210
I get 8-12 hrs use per charge using SLEEP mode. Warning, NEVER calibrate the touchscreen.
