    Mic problems

My ASUS T100 is giving me mic problems.
    Can someone here help me?

    I either want to:

    1) Set the default internal mic to 0 volume level, and stay there permanently.
If I set to this, when I re-start it goes back up to mid-level, causing feedback!

    2) Turn OFF internal mic and set the system to something else.
If I set to another mic and re-boot, it goes back to INTERNAL MIC !!!

Hi Markman, we're very sorry that you're experiencing this issue and we'll be more than happy to assist. Have you tried updating your audio driver since the issue started? Can you also confirm if this is the ASUS Transformer Book T100TA?

    Thanks for helping out ASUS_USA!
I figured out how to stop the feedback from the mic/speakers.
Before I was moving the slider down to zero (0).
This didn't work. Re-booting would move it back up again.

I tried turning off the speakers completely and that did the trick.

I hope you can answer the other questions I asked about my mic?

"I'd also like to know how I can use an external mic with
    this notebook?

What type of mic do I need and what type of connector?
I can only see one place to plug in.
Does it take a mono, stereo, or 4-line plug?

Will this external mic improve the sound heard by another party
    on Skype?"

The manual says that an external mic can be plugged into the audio port.
HOWEVER it does not say what type of of mic
And it does not say what the pin-out for the mic should be?

    TIA

Yes, you can use an external mic with your device and it would would be a higher quality given the type that you use. We would need your serial number or exact model number to check if it is stereo, mono or 4-line plug. The single 3.5mm jack that you see is a combo jack that can use either a headphone or a microphone.
