Urgent: unsaved files, boot device screen

A family member's T100 was frozen and I held down the power button and volume down button at the same time. In the past, this let to a soft reset with no problems. However, this time, I got a screen saying "please select boot device: windows boot manger, enter setup, enter to select boot setup." I don't understand what any of this means. I tried searching the forums, but there seem to be contradictory answers. There are unsaved files on the computer. What do I do to ensure that the files on the computer remain?

I don't understand why there are not answers on this issue. I just want to know which option to choose, so that none of the files are lost.

Can someone please reply? I don't understand why it's so hard to just return to the desktop after reaching this screen. I don't want everything on this computer wiped. There is a thesis on this computer that needs to be saved.

Sounds like the T100 is unable to start Windows. The power/volume down button should work if the hardware is not broken and the Windows files are not corrupted. This could mean any number of things, bad RAM, BIOS corruption issues, etc., etc.

Since the T100 doesn't have a HDD in the traditional sense, getting files copied from RAM if the OS won't boot is not likely.

I would highly suggest to never, ever use the T100 as a mission critical device unless your always saving critical files to an external drive.

I get 8-12 hrs use per charge using SLEEP mode. Warning, NEVER calibrate the touchscreen.
