Asus T100 - gone haywire, please help?

Not really sure what has happened, but as from today my Asus has gone haywire.

The keyboard and mouse works for some things, and for others I have to use the on screen keyboard, which also only works for some things. The mouse pad thing doesn't work on most things either :/

The bit on the right 'search, share, start, devices and settings' comes on when I swipe it, but doesn't do anything if I press it, so the only way I can switch the computer off is to hold the on button down which can't be good.

It's told me that it's short on disc space, but I can't get onto anything to delete things.

I have no idea where to start with trying to sort it out, hoping that someone has an idea.

    thanks JoannePic

OK I think I've found my problem I have 23 mb of free disk space out of 24 gb

I know it's a really thick question but how do I free up the disk space. I used to know how to do defrag, delete files etc on my XP PC but this tablet/computer combo has me so confused.

    TIA

Thank you so much for your help. I've tried to follow the instructions on your link for cleaning and freeing up space, but couldn't find a lot of it, I'm useless with this thing.

Eventually though, after I'd deleted everything I could find managed to install CCleaner, it's just run and I now have 7.98gb free of 28gb, so think I'm getting somewhere.

Everything seems to be running a lot smoother now. I've tried to defrag/optimise (is this the same thing?) it afterwards and the recovery drive, says it needs optimisation as it's never been run before, but when I click to optimise it goes straight off and won't run. Any ideas??

    TIA Joanne

SSDs do not need to be optimized and the software knows that so it does not run.

Well, there is always the "nuclear" option of a wipe and fresh install of Windows...

Thanks for that! sounds scary. It's working now, so guess it will be good for now.

Will have to spend some time reading and learn how to keep it maintained properly before I fill it up again.

It's tried a few times to update to windows 10, but there's never been enough space, you reckon it's OK to stay with 8 until it dies?

If you check our T100 Windows 10 section, you'll find really helpful guides that relate to the successful install of W10. W8/8.1 will carry on working, but for security & functionality, you are better going to W10

    http://www.transformerforums.com/for...hi-windows-10/

The problem you are hitting is really down to a combination of 32gb storage space which ought to be enough - but just isn't.

Coupled with a Windows installation which ought to be smaller and less space hungry - but just isn't.

Going forwards, you'd be well advised never to buy a Windows device without at least 64gb of storage space and ideally 4gb RAM.
