    T100TAF. Have I bricked it?

    Hi,

The following is a chronicling of the dark series of events that conspired to brick(?) my poor Tabtop.

-buy T100TAF and upgrade to windows 10.
    -break sugar-glass screen.
-disable touch input device due to screen issues.
-have seemingly unsolvable WiFi adapter problems due to Win 10 drivers.
-Asus tech tells me Win 10 is unsupported on WiFi (thanks for the lies, every retailer!)
-use Win 8.1 install media as I am too late to restore.
-asked to enter win 8 key at Asus branded Win install.
-have key but keyboard not recognised and touch still disabled. Checkmate.

If any kind soul could offer a BIOS device manager control solution or physical button magic I'd be over the moon. I've tried all I can but there are some smart folk in this forum!

    Many thanks,
    Grez.

You might need to get a cheep or used USB keyboard to plug in and use to complete the installation.

If you have already upgraded to Windows 10 before then you may have problems going back to Windows 8.1

I recently wrote a guide to help users reinstall windows 10 from USB with all the correct drivers. [GUIDE] How to Clean Install Windows 10 and Install Drivers

The install tool I link to in the guide does not request a license key code.

I suggest you follow this guide very carefully paying attention to the section about downloading drivers.

Not clear if you can boot into Windows 10. Maybe a Bluetooth keyboard would be easier than getting the micro USB adapter. But you have to take the path of least resistance. If wifi was your only issue in Windows 10, it does work. What drivers have you tried?

I've never allowed Windows H8 to touch my T100TAF (32 GB version). It started life as Windows 8.1 as a used tablet from eBay, but the literal very first thing I did was put Windows 10 on it.

Windows 10 has always worked just fine on it...

As for the keyboard, it needs no drivers... just dock it. Sometimes the dock connection is flaky as hell though...

Failing that, you can use a USB OTG adapter to plug a keyboard/mouse/hub/whatever into the MicroUSB charging port on the side, which doubles as a USB port. There's zero possible way that would not work.

Then go put Windows 10 back on it, because Windows 8 is literally the devil.
