Exclamation new way needed to turn on Asus T100TA

    Hi all,

My T100TA used to turn on by just pressing the On Off button, but now for some strange reason the only way to turn it on is by pressing the On Off button and then pressing it again a second time and holding it for 2 seconds the second time. This phenomenon shows up on a Google search but not in any clear-cut way (seems to be confused with Android systems). This started happening on my unit not long after I got my unit back from an RMA, but I'm not sure if that is a factor.

Can anyone tell me why this is happening and how I can get my unit to turn on the normal way by just pressing the On Off button once?

Does this happen when you completely power down the unit or when just turning it off normally for standby mode?

Sometimes if you power down and power back up too quickly...it takes multiple tries (if you don't wait 30 seconds or so first).

Does it turn on normally the first time when you hold the power button for 2 sec? I usually press and hold for about 2 seconds as my normal routine. If it doesn't turn on then, I hold for 30 seconds or until it turns on.

Sorry, I'm not sure what you mean. The problem I mentioned only happens whenever I turn on the unit, regardless of how long it has been off before I turn it on. (By "On Off Button" I meant the "Power button".)

No, it doesn't, but the single 2 second hold is the way it used to be, and I want to know how to get it back to that way.

Have you tried to power up with and/or without the keyboard dock attached?

Also....with and without the power adapter attached?

It sounds like somehow your unit is "locked".

This is kind of a long shot but boot up is affected by a setting called "fast startup". In the case of the T100s, this is actually detrimental to the start up process. So see if disabling it helps.

Maybe you somehow corrected the loose nut behind the keyboard.

    Good news though.
