Just as a curious fact, how much time did you actually have to wait from full charge, while pressing the power button til there was no light again, to fully drain the battery?

I can't imagine it was kind of a while?

Thankfully I didn't have to hold it at all, I just let it die by itself. As it took 3 days to run out it would have hurt a bit

Absolutely brilliant! I just resurrected my 100TAF using your instructions. How did you ever figure this out?

    Wait 10 seconds.

Press the power button until you see the white LED next to the camera come on then release the power button.

Almost immediately you should then see the ASUS logo

I had the same issue, with the unit not powering up. I brought it to the store where I bought it from, in Toronto, and they said that this is a common problem, as numerous customers came back with the same issue. As with the prior customers, they referred to the instructions from "rickscheller" on this site to correct the issue and it worked. Now, I just want to know why this issue occurred. I usually connect the transformer to an electrical outlet. It was when I connected it to my other laptop via USB that the transformer blanked out. I don't know if this caused the issue.

    Welcome

Why did it happen? Because it's a piece of electronics and they get confused sometimes and lock up. Add to that the fact this is Windows and that makes it worse. Add to that the fact that you cannot completely disconnect from power as you can with a desktop or laptop with removable battery. In other words, it's not unusual and normally is as easy as that to fix.
