Connecting Transformer Book to TV with HDMI - how to play sound through TV speakers?

Hi all, I have the ASUS Transformer Book T100TAF-B1-MS Signature Edition, which I have connected using the Micro HDMI port to my new VIZIO 4K TV. Everything works as it should, video is there, mouse/keyboard are working, but sound from the laptop will only come through the laptop's speakers -- I would like to make the sound come through the TV as it has louder speakers. I have gone into the Audio settings, the TV is seen there with its model number, it says it is "enabled", it is set as default device, and when I right click on it and select "test" it shows the moving green bars as if sound is playing, but I don't hear anything. I checked all volume controls, on both the computer and the TV, nothing is muted and volume is set at 86% on the computer and mid-level on the TV, but still no sounds will come out. When I switch the audio over to the laptop it works fine. I called Vizio but they told me it was a problem with my laptop. Does anyone have any advice or ideas for me? I have also tried restarting the audio services in services.msc, and I looked in Device Manager to see if any issues but according to that everything is up-to-date-driver-wise and working fine. Would appreciate any help you can offer!

Try this link... although it's for the MS Surface, you may find a clue?

If you see bouncing bars on the sound output of the T100, I'm gonna say it's your Vizio but I'm not sure.

I find sound often doesn't work if I plug in the computer and then change the source on my TV. I have to set the source first and then connect so that both the audio and video gets projected.

Welcome to the forums FormerMermaid .

I am sure, others have suggested in detail, but have you tried to make sure from 'Right-Click Volume Icon > Playback Devices', have the default playback setup to your TV screen and have the speakers on the laptop itself disabled, then check the sound? I had this issue, last month with a TV from not a known brand while doing a test, not every method/solution worked for me, this was the only workable solution to get the sound from the TV's speakers, which could seem to overcome the problem. Give it a try, Goodluck !
