Error downloading: There is insufficient space on the device

My son's Christmas present, Asus Transformer Tablet, has 8GB of storage, much of which is taken up by a Fifa game (1.25 GB). However, despite having 393 MB showing as available, we keep encountering the error message shown in the title of this thread. The app I wish to download on his tablet is 12.36 MB yet I am unable to download it. This has happened many times before, usual remedy is to delete unwanted apps. But I don't want to do that anymore!!

I have trawled Google, had a go at rebooting (power + volume buttons etc) but to no avail.

    Can anyone help?

    Welcome to the forum

In Windows, installing any program creates temporary files that typically require additional space. The final installation size may also be larger than the initial file size due to compression of the install file. This thread may provide some help cleaning the disk up. Disk Space Full Help!

I like to think I'm relatively computer literate...but evidently I'm not! I accept the 8MB storage on the tablet is restrictive but he's only had it not yet 2 months so it can't be that clogged up with rubbish behind the scenes. I am still at a loss on how to solve this. I would buy extra memory/storage to make it 16MB but I hadn't envisaged on having to do that so soon. I still don't know what to do.

It is possible that it's that clogged up, the question is "with what"? You may want to install s small program called WinDirStat to see where the big files are. Also that thread had some tips on cleaning out temp files, old updates and other "stuff".

Good point. I was assuming an error on the part of the OP and elected to ignore the 8GB statement.

Perhaps a model#... that would help determine memory size.

Exactly, I haven't seen a 8GB T100 at all? Which model/tablet are we exactly talking about? That would certainly help clear things up.
