    Permanently disable screen auto rotate

I've had the T100 for a while. One of the annoyances for me is screen autorotate. I also use the t00 in landscape mode.

I can disable auto rotate using the win 8.1 brightness slider or screen res options. This gets reset, turning auto rotate back on when I reboot. Anyone know of a way to make this stick between reboots?

Mogulman, there are a couple of methods, but I will explain the two most easiest ones,

    From Screen Resolution (shown below),
    1. Right Click on Desktop & Select 'Screen Resolution'
    2. Make sure the Checkbox 'Allow the screen to Auto Rotate' is unchecked
    3. Apply > OK

If you have dock, it should auto-lock, if it doesn't 'Win key + O' can lock/unlock it too in it's current state.

Good luck !, (thread moved from T100 General to T100 Help).

That didn't help. These settings get reset when I reboot my T100. I put that I tried using the screen res option already. I'm not using the dock.

I've been chasing this for a long time and found no answer, I don't think it's possible.
It's not just a Restart that ticks the auto-rotate box again, when I remove the tablet from the keyboard then auto-rotate is automatically turned on (ticked) again.
This is very annoying because I am switching between tablet and keyboard many times a day and if I accidentally move the tablet in the wrong direction it switches to Portrait which also messes up my folder window positions on the screen and 'Show windows side by side' (which I use a lot) has to be reset

Good luck and if you do find a permanent fix please post back, I would love to know it

With what Caster said paraphrased... "When docked, it should auto-lock into landscape" and with Rednroll's experience and mine too, it seems the proper action is to switch to landscape when docked.

But when undocked, you can set it to either rotate or not rotate. Which then causes Rednroll's (and my) eperience wherein the desktop icons can become rearranged.

Now, having said that, as far as the desktop icons go, you can long touch (right click) on the desktop and select "view" and set auto arrange icons "off", which keeps them where you've set them in either orientation.

    Found one way, not elegant.

In device manager, disable Invensense sensor collection. This disables the sensor.

It's listed in the Sensor's group in device manager.
