Question ASUS T100 - Windows Update?

    Hello new friendly community.

So i recently bought a T100 tablet. I keep getting a notification to update my Windows and there are updates available, but when im in the Update and Recovery section and go to "Windows Update" all it does it constantly load. Is it because my wifi is slow or is this something else, its been about 10mins of it constantly just loading.

That said is there anyway, that i can download the updates via my computer, and load it into a USB and install the update that way.

Thanks for any help provided. I'm new to this tablet thing, especially Win8 as my computer is only Win7.

    Welcome to the forum

The answer to your question is no. The only way to get updates is on the system to be updated. I assume you have rebooted. Is there by any chance a prompt on the screen asking to authorize install of an ActiveX control? If everything else seems OK you may need to empty/clean the update cache.

Since you're getting the update message, it would seem you do have a wifi connection? Right?

I find updating Windows from the METRO side of the system less intuitive than the desktop side. In METRO, you can just "wait out" the downloading message... it will (trust me) eventually "do it" OR like in Win7, go into Control Panel > Systems and Security > Windows Update and you'll be in familiar territory.

It is highly, highly recommended to set Windows to "notify for updates" rather than have it set to "auto update".

Welcome to these forums and do let us know how you make out and ask if you need more help.

Actually no, if you know what the windows KB numbers are for the updates, you can download them from Microsoft and install them (they download as msi executibles). I've done it plenty of times before.

Example, this is the November Windows 8.1 32-bit/x86 update rollup http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/downl....aspx?id=44985

That said, try rebooting your machine and checking again. Every once in a great while I have windows update hang in a constant loop of trying to check for updates, and a reboot almost always fixes it right away.

I WAS speaking in general terms. You can do rollups, and you can do manual updates, but not the average Joe could a) figure that out and b) know what to download. Not all systems need all the available updates either.
