Help please. Connecting an additional usb wifi adaptor

Hi I have tried 2 usb wifi adaptors netgear and alfa and both have the same issue.

After both being detected and drivers successfully installed on windows 8.1 they keep enabled and disabling almost every second and won't stay stable.

I have tried drivers auto detected and latest from manufacturers website which say windows 8.1.

The onboard wifi works fine but I need a more powerful wifi adaptor.

Is the usb 3.0 slot a full powered slot or lowered on this tablet?

Anyone have any advice it will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

I can't help, but I just wanted to say "welcome to the forum"

At a complete guess, wouldn't there be an issue (conflict) between the onboard wifi & plugging in an external one?

I have added some detail to your thread title & moved your post to T100 Help for you.

    All the best

can you specify "enabling and disabling every second"? Is this that the wifi itself is? Or detecting networks? Disconnecting and reconnecting to your network? Or is it that the physical USB adapter is being detected and ejected every few seconds?

The USB3 port is not lower powered from what I have seen.

Have you tried connecting them through the micro USB port just to do a little problem solving? You need a micro USB OTG cable to do that.

Have you tried any other USB3 devices through your keyboard USB port just to check to see if it is a port issue? Have all of the latest Asus drivers and Windows updates?

Have you tried disabling the internal wifi adapter and then given the USB wifi sticks a whirl?

    Hi thanks for the reply,

It was enabling and disabled in the network sharing, had no chance to connect to a network. I think I have read its called cycling.

This is with internal wifi disabled.

I have had success with the netgear usb adapter now after seeing I still had to download sp1 even though I was on 8.1. Now all drivers are up to date from windows and asus.

I still have the same issue with the alfa adapter which is the one I would like to work.

I have tried usb flash drive which works fine but nothing using OTG cable yet.

    Hi,

I had a similar problem with an alfa adapter ( AWUS036nhv ) and finally I had success connecting the wifi adapter through an USB Hub that was connected to the USB3 port.

Thanks to the replies of this post that gave me the idea.
