Question "The current BIOS cannot recognize the BIOS ROM type" when flashing bios

Opened up my new T100 64GB (SSD-only, no microsd yet installed) last night, powered fully overnight. Booted this morning and all seems to be working well.

Attempting to update the BIOS, got the message "The current BIOS cannot recognize the BIOS ROM type." First tried to flash via WinFlash following instructions on ASUS website. Then tried just now using ASUS Live Update, same error message.

My guess is that it came somehow mis-flashed from the factory. Getting ready to return to Amazon for a replacement, but wanted to ask here if I'm missing something simple? Shame, as otherwise flawless.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Considering updating the BIOS is sadly a frequent thing with the T100... you're getting off to a bad start. One question though, what is your current BIOS? Oh yea one more... are you running the BIOS update with power plugged in? That's required.

If you still can't flash your BIOS... since you've not invested a lot of time yet, I'd have Amazon replace it.

Thanks rscheller, great to have a second opinion.
    Regedit shows Bios as 227.
I had to plugin the power cord, yes, as the updater required it...but then still had the same error.
Was trying to go up to bios v304--that versus another wouldn't make a difference, right?

    thanks again

You can go from 227 to the latest in one jump. I can say to you that 227 was one of the longer lived more stable BIOS, before Asus went to the 30x series.

Perhaps someone else will chime in here. Is there any more detail you can provide such as error codes or something that may help.

Are you unzipping your newly downloaded BIOS file before running Winflash? I'm gonna fo read the Asus Winflash procedure and see if it's correct.

The BIOS update procedure on the Asus website is not necessarily correct for the T100.

Try this... start Winflash from the metro start screen and follow the prompts.
