Putting A Shortcut On The Taskbar

I know...I know...really basic stuff here, BUT the T100 is different somehow, and I can't seem to find the proper procedure for putting a simple desktop shortcut icon on the Taskbar of the desktop. On my Windows 8 desktop PC machine I just grab the little sucker (shortcut) and drag it to the Taskbar and it pins it there pretty as you please. On the T100 that doesn't work. I vaguely remember there is a different procedure for doing this, but I can't find it! I've got it pinned to my Start Screen, but I would like it on my desktop Taskbar. Any help please?! Thank you.

See if you can locate the actual file, not the shortcut, right click and click on pin to taskbar. In theory that should also work for a shortcut but this is a better way.

That works for me. So does right click on the icon and select Pin to Taskbar

Seems strange that you can pin it to Start but not Taskbar.
I guess you were Administrator when you tried to pin it, I don't know if that is necessary just thinking out loud

With Windows 8.1 update 1, from the metro app start screen touch and hold or right click the application icon you want to pin to the desktop taskbar and on the customize bar at the bottom, select "pin to taskbar".

I don't think you could do this before Win8.1 was patched with update 1.

Thanks for the input guys...unfortunately nothing works. The program is e-Sword installed on my SD Card on my T100. It opens and runs fine. I did pin it to my Start page, but I wanted to put it on my desktop Taskbar. I've tried going to the original .exe and right-clicking but the only pinning option is for the Start page not the Taskbar. I've right-clicked on the desktop shortcut but it doesn't offer the option of pinning it to the Taskbar, and I've selected it from the Start page but the only pinning option in the customize bar at the bottom is to unpin it from the Start page. e-Sword is the only program (.exe) I have on the SD Card. I wonder if being on the SD Card rather than the C drive makes a difference? I've tried other .exe programs on the C drive & they all offer the option of pinning to the Taskbar. I think I'll find some dinky program to install to my SD Card and see if afterward it offers me the option to pin the icon of the .exe to the Taskbar.

It's usually not a good idea to try that on removable storage, anyway.

If you want to pin anything to the taskbar that is installed to SD card you have to use a program called "Pin to 8". You can pin anything to the taskbar but remember don't remove your SD card.
