Nice tip, but I have my doubts. Since we are talking about SD card which can easily be detached even when we dont want to (users have been reporting even of loosing their cards and taping it over with a tape to secure it) which can lead into total data lost on the card.

So be aware of the risks!

In more than 3 1/2 years of using microSD cards in both the TFT101 and T100...traveling on airplanes, in hotels, walking around at tradeshows, driving in cars, and using at numerous remote locations...I never once came remotely close to ejecting my microSD cards without specifically wanting to do so intentionally. There is 0 risk from this user.

But I just wanted to post a warning to more ordinary users, not advanced ones.

Any user can avoid inadvertently ejecting their microSD card. It ain't rocket science. That was the point.

But for anyone who would do it...I guess consider yourself warned.

I think the argument makes more sense on this device since the card protrudes a lot farther from the edge than other tablets/devices we may be used to.

Better performance may be nice but seeing as I like to pass the device around freely I'd rather not worry if I/somebody clicks that bad boy out.

I'm not sure whether this is related or not, but when I set my Sandisk 64GB MicroSDXC card to "better performance", I wasn't able to install Microsoft Office 2013 on it. I reverted to "Quick Removal" and was able to. I also have an issue where my card seems to crap out randomly when under a heavy read or write situation (which isn't related to this, I don't believe).

Thanks OP for this tip. I am using the SD card as a permanent extended storage of the C drive and was not aware of this cache setting. Thanks! And I too have not had any issues of the micro SD card coming out randomly (knock on wood!).

Not much of an argument...only a very tiny few ever have it happen....and after years of use on multiple tablets...not even once for at least 4-5 users I'm aware of directly. Sorry...but much to do about nothing.
