Some function keys (brightness) are not working

I've had my 64GB T100 for a couple of days and am loving it so far!

I've got a question about the function keys when using the keyboard dock. I can adjust the volume using fn f11/f12 and the volume slider bar will appear on the screen. But nothing happens with the brightness controls fn f5/f6. My screen brightness will not change with this method (it will change with other methods).

Also fn f2 will not toggle the Wi-Fi and fn f1 will not put the T100 to sleep.

I know there are other ways to accomplish all of this. I'm just wondering if others see the same issue with the function keys and if there is a way to make all the function keys work as I assume they are supposed to?

Yes I just tried it, all the function keys work on mine. Fn f1 for sleep, fn f2 toggles airplane mode, fn f11/f12 for volume, fn f5/f6 for brightness.

One quick question - have you updated your BIOS to the latest version (v2.2.0)?

    Just asking...

Mine came with v214 and I upgraded it right away to v220.

I don't recall if I ever tried the function keys with v214.

It's strange some of the function keys are not working. But as I mentioned, there are other ways to do the same thing. I just find the keyboard function keys to be the easiest way to adjust brightness.

It makes sense to me that the BIOS would control the function keys so I'm not sure if doing a full system restore will make any difference.

Everything else with the tablet seems to work great so far other than some of the function keys.

Try disconnecting and reconnecting the keyboard, make sure it is fully snapped in. Also might check the keyboard drivers in device manager to make sure they are current. Also maybe try reinstalling the ATK driver from the ASUS website.
    Fulvio93 and RenoGuy like this.

    Thanks for the suggestions!

I thought you might be on to something about the keyboard being snapped in wrong because the function keys on the right side of the keyboard worked fine, but those on the left (f1-f6) did not work. But removing and replacing the keyboard did not fix the problem.

I checked the drivers in device manager and all seem to be working fine and were the current versions.

I had the latest ATK driver installed so I didn't think that was the issue, but I went ahead and removed it. With it removed, the volume function keys still worked, but the brightness function keys still did not work.

I reinstalled the ATK driver from the ASUS site (same .30 version I had before) and lo and behold all my function keys are now working again!

Go figure. But thanks again for coming up with the solution!

First go to the Windows Control Panel, select "Programs" and "Uninstall a Program".

Near the top, you should see "ATK Package". Uninstall it and reboot.

Next go to the ASUS support site...

Notebooks & Ultrabooks - ASUS Transformer Book T100

Click on "Driver and Tools", select the Winows 8.1 32 bit operating system, then you should see a choice for "ATK". Install that and then reboot.

After reboot, the function keys worked for me!

Thank you RenoGuy. I did that but it didnīt work. So, I did a bit of researching in the internet and found the solution. To use those keys, you have press the key "FN" at the same time with the function key you want and it works.
