This seemed to do the trick for me as well. Also aligned with Asus' official response:

Thank you for contacting ASUS Customer Service.

We apologize for the delayed response.
Also, We apologize for such things that you have experienced.

For this issue, please restore the BIOS for a try.
Please turn on the computer, enter the BIOS by rapidly tapping the F2 key during power-up. Switch to "Save & Exit" menu and select Restore Default. Press F10 save and exit for a try.

If it doesn't work, please reset the system for a try.
The reset function would delete all the files.
So please back-up all your important files to an external hard drive first and then transfer them back to your computer after the problem solved.
    1. Turn off the computer.
    2. As soon as the computer turns on, start tapping F9.
    3. You should see an option that says troubleshoot, select it.
    4. Select the option that says reset/ remove and reinstall windows .
    5. Then get started and wait for the process to complete itself.

Sorry for the inconvenience and hope this helps!

Also had the Windows Update FUBAR, and nothing that I do seems to be able to revive it.

The above procedures, as suggested by Asus, DO NOT WORK !

My Service Request to Asus was ignored, no response.

I can get into a Command Box via the BIOS.

Any ideas on how to access the Recovery Partition from there, and to either manually do a reset, or to copy this to a USB flash drive (bootable ?)

BTW, from the Command Box I can access a flash drive.

I've been doing a bit of research and it appears to be an issue with how the system is handling the docking keyboard/hdd try removing it from the dock and booting it up. It should make your tablet operational. However still does not fix the problem it but mitigates not being able to use it. Good luck

And there at last I could boot into windows. I got a blue screen though after I rebooted the second time, but at least I can now access the recovery tools, do factory reset and fix updates.

This is still awesome tablet for it's price. I love it.

    hope this helps
I created an account just to say THIS WORKED! After trying to clean unwanted software that came with Vegas sound editing software, my Asus wouldnt completely restart. I followed the directions above, which brought me to an option to repair the system, and from there I chose to revert the computer to where it had been several hours earlier. I was SO RELIEVED. Thank you! I love this computer. It's the best I've owned, and I was terrified I'd ruined it.

Freezing on Reboot after Windows Updates - Fixed

My Asus T100TA was freezing on the restart screen after Windows updates. I had previously tried suggestions with hitting F2 key but my problem was not solved. I really didn't want to factory reset my tablet. I decided to give this suggestion a try by removing my tablet from the dock and then restarting it once again. My tablet finally rebooted properly and installed the updates. Currently my tablet is working great.

Thank you for taking the time to post this suggestion because I have researched this much over the last several months and am thrilled to finally have a fix.

    Sonja
