Touchpad hesitation

Hello everyone, my T100's touchpad hesitates whenever the T100 is doing anything in the background, no matter how light the task.

Here's a video to demonstrate.


Is this normal? The problem seems to go away by 90% when I run nothing at all.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Have you tried using a mouse? Can confirm if it's a OS issue or just a issue with the touch pad...

I had some of that, but not quite as bad as your video.

Another topic indicates the touch pad tends to go to sleep a lot, usually every ten seconds. So may be a annoying power saving setting that Asus needs to change as there doesn't appear to be a setting option to manually change it...

No issues with mouse cursor movement using a mouse--this issue seems to be isolated to touchpad usage. I'm pretty sure the touchpad isn't sleeping on me because this will happen while im in the middle of using it.

I'm thinking I might have a bad t100..

This a problem I've come across. Because the touchpad sleeps so quickly it takes two taps to do anything. Really annoying when you're reading a long article. I looked through the registry for a sleep timeout but couldn't find anything, hopefully Asus will release a revised driver for the TP.

I found, though, that when I'm using just the tip of my finger, it doesn't work very well, but when I use my finger more flat (more of it touching?) it works better. I wonder if that's a sensitivity setting, or if it's a product of trying to save power . . . anyway, not quite as easy to use as any touchpad I've used before.

I own a T100 (didn't see the option for it when registering), and I had the same problem. What I did was to go into the "Show Hidden Icons" thing on the taskbar and double-click on ASUS Smart Gesture. First, disable all three-finger gestures. Then, on the top menu, select "Edge Gesture" and Deselect all three of the boxes (Toggle Charm, Toggle Menu, and Switch Running). This has dramatically improved trackpad response for me. It's not perfect, as there is often a one-second delay when you've let it rest for even 10 seconds (as I did when writing this), but I no longer hate the trackpad on my T100. Now I just prefer a mouse... and every other trackpad I've ever used. But I was thinking about returning this b/c the pad is so awful, while I'm now able to tolerate it.

Thanks! Just discovered this last night actually, and was coming back to post it. I left the Three finger gesture on and just got rid of the 'edge' gestures. It seems much more responsive. As you said, still not quite up to other laptops, but I don't hate it anymore.

I've also found that my sleep (fn+f1), wifi (fn+f2), brightness (fn + f5, f6), and touchpad on/off (fn+f9) hotkeys are doing nothing. The volume and display switching hotkeys are working. Is anyone else experiencing this as well?
