    Two serious problems....

My first serious problem is that the touch screen does not respond.

My second serious problem (which has become my first) is that I can not turn on my computer!

Charge light was orange for a long time. Over night charge, in the morning light was white.
But the computer refuses to turn on.

Serious suggestions for both problems would be appreciated.

If I suggest things you have already tried it's because you didn't list what you have tried and what results you got.

Remove the tablet from the keyboard dock
Remove any MicroSD card and anything else that is connected to the tablet

Orange light means charging and white light means fully charged but if there is a problem with the battery it might be losing charge almost immediately so I suggest you try turning it on with and without the power connected.

When you push and hold the power button does the camera light (in the middle at the top) turn on?
Have you tried continuing to hold the power button down after the camera light appears? This is how a forced Shutdown is done but in this case it might help to 'kickstart' the tablet

Try holding down the Volume Down button (on the left side) while you press the power button. This should bring up the Boot Device Selection Menu but since your touchscreen isn't working you won't be able to do anything from there except turn it off again but it might help to 'kickstart' the tablet

Connect the keyboard and hold down the listed key while powering on the tablet.
    ESC: Boot device selection menu
DEL: Boot into BIOS Setup (same as F2)
    F2: Boot into BIOS Setup
F9: Boot into windows recovery mode
Vol Down: Boot Device Selection Menu

    Good luck

    No.

Have you tried continuing to hold the power button down after the camera light appears?
Since the camera light never appears, no.

Try holding down the Volume Down button (on the left side) while you press the power button.
    No response.

Connect the keyboard and hold down the listed key while powering on the tablet.
    ESC: Boot device selection menu
DEL: Boot into BIOS Setup (same as F2)
    F2: Boot into BIOS Setup
F9: Boot into windows recovery mode
Vol Down: Boot Device Selection Menu
Right now, no response for all of the above.

    Latest update.

The above results occurred with the orange light back on.
Plugged back in again until with light appeared.

Did all above tests again with same negative results.

    Then a strange thing occurred.
I tried closing the lid to approx. a 60 degree angle and it powered on!

All apps were back again. However as a test I tried to launch Excel
and got a message saying I'd need to re-activate again as there were
    changes made to my system!

So now there is life again.
Don't know what caused the problem.
    Battery is showing 99%.

Screen still not responsive to touch.

Seems most likely that you have some form of hardware issue. Keep regular backups and talk to Asus.

Touch screen is likely be down to a MS update, mine went west after some cappellar light thingy installed from MS, I just downloaded the driver pack from Asus and all came good.
