USB on Tablet - Able to Configure?

    Hello All,

I just purchased a T100TAF and discovered that the USB port on the tablet itself cannot transfer data? From all of the searches I've read, some people have been successful at using
certain cables to supply power (OTG) as well as data, however I'm not having any luck.

I've tried swapping the Data + and Data - on one end of the cable to rule out a connectivity issue. I know the cable it good otherwise because it works on other devices, and the charge light
on the ASUST100TAF lights up, but that's it.

Am I screwed, or is there a configuration menu that I can access in Windows 8?

In the BIOS I tried setting USB CONFIGURATION to XHCI and EHCI, and combinations of having the EHCI port enabled/disabled. This did not work.

    Thank you in advance!

P.S. Failing that, I may purchase a cable that fits into the docking port, and try to pick off the data wires from there...

    Welcome YellowGTM

Have you tried other ways to perform data transfers? WiFi, BT, Cloud, USB, microUSB, microSD, etc.

What kind of data is giving you problems?

I have no problems using the port for a GSM modem and also for a memory stick

Yes, I have tried using the USB port on the Keyboard (doc station), and everything is fine.

What kind of data is giving you problems?
I cannot establish a connection with a device using the microUSB on the side of the tablet.

For what it's worth, I was using a powered cable however my overall battery reserve was about 20%. i'm not certain if this is related,
but I'm charging the T100 and will repeat my tests.

I never tried to move data via the micro USB, tried it does' not work. My Guess this was designed as a charge port only.
Maybe someone else will come along that has been able to determine this is the case.

I should have asked what the source of the data was... is it another PC?

You can't connect two Windows OS PCs together through standard USB. In that scenario, both PCs want to be the HOST and for it to work, one needs to be a CLIENT.

I'm trying to connect an Arduino ATMega2560 and send/receive data.

If this port will not work, my only option is to find another tablet, or perhaps a cable that fits the docking port.

    Thanks for your help.

Not sure what that cable is? Maybe provide a link.

I looked up the Arduino ATMega2560 and this one comes with an input cable with a USB connector...
USD $ 22.63 - (For Arduino) Mega2560 ATmega2560-16AU USB board & free USB cable, Free Shipping On All Gadgets!

I would expect this to work with either an OTG microUSB to USB such as... Amazon.com: SANOXY® MICRO USB OTG TO USB 2.0 ADAPTER: Computers & Accessories

or plugged into the keyboard USB.
