Is My T100 Bricked after Asus Live Update?

I have an T100 with Windows 8.1 installed. This morning Asus Live Update wanted to install some stuff including a BIOS update. Somewhere along the line the installation of the updates failed. I don't know exactly what was being installed when it decided to fail...

When I first switched back on the tablet Windows informed me there was an issue. I was given the option to Restart or to go to Advanced Options. Neither on-screen button responded. I switched off the tablet then rebooted.

Now, it looks like Windows is trying a factory reset thing. The screen just sits scrolling through pastel colours telling me it's "Almost ready". It sits like that for ages then the screen goes black.

    That's it.

Is there any way to repair this or should I take it back to the shop (it has 6 months left under guarantee)?

    Thanks for any help.

This sounds like a Windows issue and not a hardware issue. It's possible you could fix it by restoring the system. You could try hitting F9 as it is booting (before it goes into Windows) and see if you have the option of reinstalling Windows and resetting the system.

Pedr0:- We're sorry to hear this and we'd be more than happy to see how best we can assist. Based on the information you've provided we suggest doing a hard reset to try and resolve the issue. Please complete the following steps to have a hard reset done:

To have a hard reset (power coil drain) done, proceed with the following steps please:

Step 1: Power down device - if not already powered down >
Step 2: Remove charger cable (and battery, if battery is removable) >
    Step 3: Hold power button (constantly) for 30 - 45 secs >
Step 4: Reconnect charger (and battery if applicable) >
Step 5: Press power button to turn on device

We also suggest a System Restore to an earlier point in the event that the Hard Reset does not fix the issue. The system restore however will remove all programs, applications or software that you may have installed as well as windows & software updates installed after the date selected for the restore process.
To have a system restore done for your unit, please proceed with the following steps:

Step 1: Power down device - if not already powered down (hold power button until power down or select "Shut down" from "Power" menu in Charm settings) >
Step 2: Hold (or repeatedly tap) F9 key immediately after pressing power button to power back on device >
Step 3: Hold F9 until a screen appears saying "Please Wait" then release after >
Step 4: Select "Troubleshoot" on the following screen >
Step 5: Select "Advanced Options" >
Step 6: Select "System Restore" >
Step 7: Select a restore point and click Finish

If you have any further questions, comments, or concerns please do not hesitate to let us know. Your case number is N150604425. We will be more than happy to assist you. Once again, thank you for choosing ASUS products and services.

    Thank you,
