Its partition attribute is set as read only, but as you mentioned, can be modified with a low level format tool. Usefull if you want to make your own recovery image.

I've got a whole thing going on with how to actually restore the system %100 without any ASUS intervention. I just found out how to restore the F9 function too using reagentc so I am optimistic that if I happen to screw my system up I can fix it myself.

Tip: has nothing to do with anything embedded in WinRE partition

I read elsewhere it was basically a (crappy, slow) 8GB USB stick soldered to the motherboard. The people who have done it have a new 8GB drive but it is really, really slow (think class 4 SD card).

I finally got this fixed. Asus have a tool called Backtracker that will allow you to back up the recovery partition to a USB stick and then delete it.

When you've backed that up it's literally a single click to delete the recovery partition and it automatically adds the space to your C: drive. Takes all of two seconds!

    Download it here:

I read that in another thread, but I have a 32GB model and it worked perfectly. I think the issue is that it won't back up the recovery or delete the hidden extra 8GB drive if you have a normal 32GB model from the factory but if you have a 32GB model that has lost 8GB after being in for repair, this absolutely does get that 8GB back for you.

That would seem to make sense since a repaired 32GB would be the same system drive structure as the stock 64GB.

Hi, I live in Brazil and I bought my T100TA last march, from a big and well known Brazilian online retailer, which also has a huge chain of physical stores. I know the machine was brand new, because the box came with all of the usual ASUS tape seals. For those who don't know, since 2009 ASUS has a facility in Curitiba (South of Brazil) where it assembles tablets and smartphones.

My T100TA has the following partitions: 20.2 GB for the C: drive, 8 GB for the recovery partition, 100 MB hidden partition.

I'm willing to install Windows 10 Insider Preview on my T100TA and, as you may know, I need to have at least 16 GB free on the system partition in order to do that. Currently my C: drive has about 9 Gb free. Do you think I can safely backup the recovery partition and assign the 8 GB to the C: drive? I would appreciate if anybody gives me the directions to do that.

By the way, would my T100TA warranty be void if I use the ASUS Backtracker tool?

    Best regards,

I don't think you can use the Backtracker tool on a 32 gb model because the 8 gb recovery partition is on a hidden ROM chip.
