I don't believe the microSD slot speed is related to USB speed.

Note the tablet USB2.0 connector is the microUSB connector... aka the power connector. This microUSB connector can be used as full size USB2.0 with an OTG adapter.
    Rick, loving my T100TA-C1-GR Z3740 64GB Win 10
BIOS 314. All Windows updates except Bing. All Asus Live Updates. WIFI driver 5.93.99.210
I get 8-12 hrs use per charge using SLEEP mode. Warning, NEVER calibrate the touchscreen.

It isn't it is limited by the SD host speed, which is ~20MB/sec for non-UHS-I SD buses (which the Bay Trail SoC does not use, just regular SD).

It is one of my hopes with Cherry Trail is the Intel has improved I/O, not just the CPU and GPU. Even if not extra USB3 support (all Bay Trail SoC (-T, -N and -D) have only 1 USB3 port and I think 2 USB2 supported), then switching to a UHS-I capable SD bus as well as moving the wifi from SDIO to HSIC (SDIO is limited to 100Mbps before overhead, HSIC IS USB2 based, which means 480Mbps before overhead, around 280Mbps with overhead taken in to account).

I think it would improve a lot of things (first off, allowing 802.11ac wifi, without it being a laughing stock).

    1. I also believe that is correct, but haven't run any comparison tests.
Since Z3775 has SD Card 3.0 controller; if you use an SDHC-Class 10 or SCXC-U1, speed will be comparable to USB 3.0.
    2. OTG Y-cable with power will allow USB devices to be powered from the T100 power adapter (which still won't power the T100).
    Asus Transformer T100TAM-C1-GM, Atom Z3775, 2GB-RAM, 64GB eMMC, Win8.1-32 updated to Win10-32
