ASUS Backtracker v3.0.8

So in process of manually updating all my drivers (asus liveupdate hasnt found any updates since april of last year) - I see there is a new version of Backtracker 3.0.8.
I am currently running 3.0.3. But of course I download it and it says my system is not supported. After some searching I realized there are different versions for 32gb and 64gb units. Asus page has 3.0.7 for 64GB listed but it downloads file with "32" in it and it also says system not supported!
Well you can just take the download URL, change 32 to 64 and it will download the 64gb version of both 3.0.7 and 3.0.8

Any reasons not to run/try one of these? Any cautions?

PS spoke too soon - both BackTracker_Win81_64_VER308.zip and BackTracker_Win81_64_VER307.zip refuse to install on my system.
I downloaded BackTracker_Win81_64_VER303.zip again and setup starts fine.

Asus has become very poor at after product release support. I asked Asus_USA in a post on these forums this past week to try and get the mess with support software cleaned up.

Basically get Asus Live Update to simply work would be great (period). Now we'll add Backtracker to that list. These tools should always just work.

Are you saying that there's a version of Backtracked for the 32gb versions? It was my understanding that it was only for the 64gb models

Yes, you're correct. The current version of Backtracker is only for 64GB versions. That's a piece of the confusion factor Asus has created.

there are two files of each release. one with 32 and another with 64 in it. i havent compared files inside zips, but names suggest they do have 32gb.
but on my 64gb tablet none of the files except 303 work

What exactly does Backtracker do, that the built-in Windows 8.1 software won't do?

I've never used it but from the Asus service website... "ASUS Backtracker (ASUS Backtracker helps you to back up and recover your system's settings)".

Perhaps you can contact Asus and get clarification to enlighten all of us.

Just use Macrium Reflect. No problem creating images or bootable USB. Have not tried Restore (i.e. Recovery), since the need has not arisen.

Hehe. You know if I contacted Asus they would say:

Backtracker is a very important app. It performs the required procedures to backup and restore the T100 correctly. or something like that
