OEM Windows vs Clean Windows Installation - Performance question

I know there are several topics that teach/show how to do both. So, my question is, for those that decided to keep their instalation or do a clear one, did you notice any real gain on performance? Or people just to do this in order to get more free storage?

Since your question is T100 generic, as for the T100 OEM Win8.1 OS, it is just about as lean as it can be.

IMHO, I see no reason to worry about the "leanness" of the installed OS since it's only add on of Office H&S is easily not installed if so desired.

If your asking specifically regarding the 32GB model. That changes things.

I get 8-12 hrs use per charge using SLEEP mode. Warning, NEVER calibrate the touchscreen.

Awesome! But why it is different regarding the 32GB model?

Many people here with the 32GB model struggle with "a lack of storage space" and have gone the WIMBoot OS route to be able to eliminate the recovery partition and save more precious space.

But again, it's all about storage, or there is a noticeable gain in performance?

Its all about storage. Within reason, the more free disk space you have, the faster disk I/O is going to be. That is a function of how flash based storage and controllers work though.

So if you have 2GB of free space versus 20GB of free space, the T100 with 20GB of free space is going to have significantly better disk write speeds (read speeds are generally uneffected by how full an SSD/eMMC are).

Most people do clean installs to get rid of manufacturer bloatware. Some people just like pristine Windows. I doubt if you see any performance gain unless such bloatware programs loaded on startup to consume RAM or you were on the edge with storage to accomodate virtual memory swap file or something like that. If the bloatware programs just are sitting on the hard drive and you have plenty of space, I don't see any gain by getting rid of them other than recovery space from programs you will never use. Like it was said before, the T100 comes with minimal bloatware, I think just an update, sync, picture processing program (<200 mb).
