    hyberfil.sys....delete or not?

    Just got a discounted t100 from Bestbuy....I love it. AMAZING device.

    I have read a few contradicting opinions on the hyberfil.sys file, and whether it's safe to delete. (it's big and I only have a 32 gig SSD)
    some say it's only for hybernating, and I only sleep....I don't hybernate, in fact I don't seem to have any options to hybernate.
    others say that when I turn off, I'm actually using this file to help boot back up faster.

    any opinions here?

    you need to do powercfg -hibernation off. can't just delete the file as it will come back if you can even delete it. if you install classic shell you will see the hibernation option in shut down options.

    I do a hybrid on mine. after it goes into slp for more than 6 hr it will then enter hibernation mode. in this way if you ever forget it in slp mode, it won't drain batt as slp uses significantly more batt than hibernation.

    On my Win8.1 its powercfg /hibernate off

    How do you go to hibernate after 6 hours? I have enabled hybrid shutdown in Classic Shell but haven't seen anyplace where I can configure this action.

    Here's the registry key:

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Power\PowerSettings\238C9FA8-0AAD-41ED-83F4-97BE242C8F20\9d7815a6-7ee4-497e-8888-515a05f02364\DefaultPowerSchemeValues\381b4222-f694-41f0-9685-ff5bb260df2e]
    "DcSettingIndex"=dword:00005460
    "AcSettingIndex"=dword:00000000

    When you modify the dc setting as base decimal the value for the above is 10800 which is 10800 seconds or 3 hrs. change it to whatever you want in seconds. I didn't see a point to force it into hibernation in ac power so left it at default.

    So you need to have hibernation turn back on...

    You can only modify hibernation settings through regedit as these options are not displayed.
