asus T100 GPS and battery life?

Hi I would like to know if all the T100 has a broadcom gnss chip under sensor section in device manager. This is fairly important for me. Much appreciated if someone can check this under device manager. thnx.

The models that i am after are the recent T100 such as T100TA-B1-GR.

Also is the battery life as good as stated? is it realistic to be able to watch lord of the ring trilogy on one battery charge?

The T100 doesn't have a built in GPS.

From a full charge and at about 40% brightness, I'd say you could watch I, II and at least half way into III. YMMV

I get 8-12 hrs use per charge using SLEEP mode. Warning, NEVER calibrate the touchscreen.

hmm not sure if thats completely true for all models. saw T100TAF-B11-GR at local best buy. this model has only 1gb ram and 32 gb storage and Z3735 cpu but it does have a broadcom gnss sensor. So what does that mean? Is this a "different" T100? I also see a T100TAF-B1-BF that has 2GB ram and 32gb storage but I don't know if it has a gps.

This is all too confusing..... ;(

Here's the BestBuy spec page for model T100TAF-B11-GR. It states NO GPS. I also have a hunch the 1GB ram is a typo... Is that enough to run Win8.1 and anything else? But then again, it's price is $299.99.

Here's a link to a recent article discussing the T100TAF-B11-GR and the TF0310C-A1-BK... Asus TF0310C-A1-BK VS. Asus T100TAF-B11-GR | TecTack: Technology Reviews, Tutorials, and Future Trends

It's mentioned that the TF0310C-A1-BK has built-in GPS but doesn't mention that for the T100TAF-B11-GR. It also corroborates the T100TAF-B11-GR has only 1GB of ram.

** UPDATE ** The TF0310C-A1-BK is an Android tablet.

hmm, i will swing by best buy later tonite and snap a picture of this thing. These manufacturers are not making things easy for consumers.

These are my criteria for a convertible tablet:

-at least 2gb ram, 32gb storage
    -gps
    -microhdmi, microsd
-battery life at least 9-10 hrs
-10 to 11 inch touchscreen with detachable keyboard
-around 3lb or less with keyboard attached.
    -less than $300-400.

I have a samsung 500t with a z2760 cpu that meets the above criteria but was hoping to upgrade to something snappier with a z37xx cpu and maybe smaller and lighter. Am I really asking too much?

Do you also want Windows 8.1+ OS?

Was the Samsung 500T less than $300-400? I thought the first generation of Atom Windows 8 convertibles were significantly more expensive (a quick Google suggest the 500T launch price was $750). Though it is a shame that Samsung dropped out of making convertibles.

Unfortunately it seems not uncommon to miss out the GPS - not sure if this is because of an assumption that people have GPS on their phones and don't need it, or simply that GPS isn't common on standard laptops, either, or technical reasons such as that GPS is much poorer on devices without their own data connection (GPS on phones often goes by network coverage rather than actually using GPS; or it uses Assisted GPS which helps get satellite info from the network) - though I still find GPS useful on my Wifi only Nexus 7, evidently you liked it on your Samsung 500T, and Asus decided to put it in the Android version of these new tablets. Personally I'd be happy with an easy way to use my Android phone as a GPS for the T100 (anyone know how? The only info I've found refers to using it only with Google Earth, and not supporting the GPS API offered to Windows Store apps - which would be useful for things like Nokia maps).

well didn't get my 500t right when it came out but much later in 2013 for $300 on ebay. I use centrafuse localizer which allow virtual com port for gps data with igo for windows.

As far as meeting my criteria, the 500t still checks all the boxes except i just want something more updated and slightly smaller and lighter and the asus t100 seems to fit the bill esp like the long batt life on the asus. It just that all these various t100 models, asus is not completely disclosing all the different minor things like gps in the spec. The same way with samsung and their 500t models. They have MANY 500t models, some with keyboard or with nfc or with gps or stylus or a combination of those but there's is not an official www pages listing all the model numbers and specific peripherals.... so it's very hard sometimes to pin down a specific model number to buy one with the combination of things that you want.
