I believe it is Embedded Controller FirmWare

Embedded controller - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
An embedded controller (EC) is a microcontroller in computers that handles various system tasks that the operating system does not handle......

.....Many BIOS updates also include upgrades for the embedded controller firmware

Seems to be ok. No issues so far. Wondering if they are going to put out new intel drivers for the bios.

Intel drivers are not crafted specifically for the BIOS, so no. The drivers are crafted for the SoC itself, which doesn't change with the BIOS. Granted, there ARE pieces that interact with each other, but the Intel driver package is generic to all Bay Trail-T processors, not specific to the T100.

Just curious...Could I install the Intel Iris driver package for my T100? or is it aimed for Intel HD 4000 and upwards?

No issues so far, but after every BIOS update my SD card is messed up.
