    207 bios???

    Hi guys

Just found this on the support site - anyone got any idea what it is? It shows up under the T100TA bios section, but the number looks like it's for the T100TAR... Have they just screwed up, or is it for both versions? I find it hard to believe they'd release a bios downgrade for the T100TA, but it's Asus so I guess anything's possible... I extracted the file it's called T100TASAS.207

    Hi Andy...

This was reported a few days ago... seems to be an error on the part of whoever put it in the download section. The bios versions have always gone "upward" so the latest is 309... so I would ignore that as it might be for a laptop or some other device rather than the T100 you own.

Contacting Asus and verifying what I've just posted might be worthwhile... I am very busy and don't own a T100 or I would contact them myself.

Thanks - I'll see if I can find an email address (from bitter experience their forum really isn't worth the trouble!). Just as well I checked it before I installed it lol

    Finally heard back from them:

    Dear Andrew,

Thank you for contacting ASUS. Unfortunately the screenshot was not correctly attached and I was not able to have a look at it. Please be advised that BIOS version 207 is indeed the latest version for your T100TA.

The best way to indicate the latest version is by looking at the date. Please find the BIOS drivers at our support site below and for your conveniece I have attached an tutorial with the steps to update your BIOS using Winflash.

If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

So there you have it, as far as Asus, the 2.07 bios should be safe to install (and is the latest version). Don't think I'll rush into being a guinea-pig though...

Start a chat session with their online tech support. Have them go to their own support page and examine the issue and confirm that in writing.

    I wouldn't touch that BIOS with a 10ft poll.

If I get a minute I might just do that... Unless they've got a really good reason to rewind the numbering, I'm putting it down to them screwing up when they uploaded it (the numbering and release date scream T100TAR update). BTW, any idea what the difference between the T100TA and the T100TAR is? The downloads section seems to include more recent versions of the Broadcom and Realtek drivers (which I'm more tempted to have a play with)

Maybe it's a typo - could it be 307, as the 306 was pulled rom the web site

The extracted file is T100TASAS.207, so they'd have to have it wrong in 2 places. Also it's larger than 307... I still don't know the difference between the T100TA and the T100TAR, but they use the same drivers so it's possible that they use the same microcode, in which case 207 could = 309 (which hasn't shown up on the UK support site yet). However, the description for the only other TAR bios on the site doesn't match the description or size of any of the TA updates, which strongly suggests they're different. Definitely not something I'd recommend installing unless you're happy to do an RMA...

Thanks Seeker - that's really interesting... I wonder what's up with the numbering? If 207's the latest, this is going to get very confusing given that the previous version was 309...
