    Buy new or refurbished?

After some of you having owned this for a while, I'm thinking you can give me some useful input.

Buy New- $338 with1 year warranty (and Office) or

Refurbished for $280 . No office key, but I can use OpenOffice if I need to read something. I can also purchase 1 year warranty from the reseller for $30 - the type where they just ship you a replacement in 2 days if you have any problems.

I generally like refurbished units as they've been checked out before resale. And the replacement type warranties are sometimes less hoops jump through than the mfg warranties.

Your thoughts after owning one, and possibly having gone through a warranty replacement?

I've had good and bad success with both new and refurbished devices. I bought my T100 new last October and there were no refurbs available since it was a brand new device. There's no way of knowing for sure. Is the $338 for a 64GB model?

For me, the lack of MS Office would keep me away because Open Office will not work properly for my Office document needs. So the $58 to get MS Office in my mind is quite cheap since it's about $139 retail download from Amazon.

I have a refurbished model and it works fine. I had a copy of Office I already owned so no cost there. Are you sure the refurbished model doesn't have office installed? I thought it did for some reason.

If I were you... I'd pass on the 32GB unit and get the 64GB unit at the best price new or refurb. Amazon has it new for $339 including MS Office. If you don't really think you'll need MS Office, TigerDirect has a refurb for $299.99.

In years of phone and tablets I've never come close to needing more than 32g. Unless there was a speed benefit(which I don't think there is). I don't know that I'd go 64. But back to new vs refurb with1 year replacement service question...

This is a computer.... Not a tablet. If you use it for Internet only maybe you could get away with it. I wish I would have gotten the 64 gb.

I 100% agree... this is not an Android or IOS device... it's full blown Windows. I'd suggest you read the 32 vs 64GB threads here... I don't think anyone that got the 64GB said they should've got the 32GB but there's plenty of 32GB owners complaining about so little space on the system drive and many saying if they knew the OS took up nearly half of the 32GB and Office taking up even more... you really wind up with about 12-14GB native.

I'm not trying to sell you one way or the other, I'm just trying to make sure you have no regrets. It's not worth the $50 cost adder.
    eejit and clintro like this.
