Anyone get Win 8.1 Update 1 running?

Followed several guides, downloaded the files, tried to install them manually one at a time, and all of them said that it would not work on my device. I tried the x86 version first, and then tried the 64bit just for the heck of it, same result. Didn't try the ARM based version as I didn't think that would apply.

    Anyone else have any luck?

Are you just trying to brick your T100? Please wait till April.

    Eh?

It's an update for Windows, the one released internally to employees and slated for release. Why would a Windows update brick a device? Especially when you have a restore function built into the device?

Do a Google search on your question and there are plenty of stories about BSODs and problems trying to install/run the leaked version of update 1.

I also read numerous articles on the results of beta update 1 and there's not a lot in it making me want to be on the bleeding edge.

Of course anyone is free to try it and report their results. But I'll stay away from it till it's officially released and even then I'll likely wait 45-60 days after before I install it.

Installed the X86 ones without a problem. (bios 227) I already had StartIsBack running so part of the new functionality was already there.

Because, unless you made an external backup, it's possible for a update to corrupt the restore partition and thus prevent a recovery and besides, it's still a pre-release... one of the reasons they release it internally at this point is to work out any remaining bugs and to let OEMs get started on getting ready to support the update... Even the final official release may not be entirely bug free... So it's usually better to wait unless you're adventurous and or are very good at making sure the system will recover...

Final release should be interesting, as it seems they're reducing the system requirements for Windows with this update from 2GB of RAM and 32GB Storage down to 1GB of RAM and 16GB of Storage... So it may help reduce drive space issues at the very least, depending on what they did to reduce those requirements... while most of the rest should help those who are still having issues with W8 on full desktop setups...

That is so strange that it won't let me install the files. None of them.
