how to use the touchscreen keyboard to login / login to Win8 only with tablet

    Hi,

I would like to be able to login to Windows 8 only using the tablet, without the keyboard. However, I do not see how to activate the touchscreen keyboard to enter the password.

Is it possible to login to Win8 with the tablet disconnected from the keyboard? When there is no password set for an account, the tablet boots directly into the account's desktop. But when the user account does have a password, I can only enter the password with the keyboard.

    Any hints and suggestions?

I think this use case - leaving the keyboard home and traveling only with the tablet - is very legitimate and a login whithout the keyboard should be supported.

    Thanks and best regards,
    Peter

I have my login set to use a 4 digit pin and when I swipe up into the login screen and touch in the "pin entry field", it pops up the keyboard on screen.

Thanks so much! This is exactly the kind of workaround I was looking for.
    Thanks,
    Peter

Even with a full windows password, you click on the field and the onscreen keyboard pops up. That is the standard for all touchscreens I've used. You touch an onscreen field and then the onscreen keyboard pops up.

Nice to know... I thought so but wasn't 100% sure of that, So I posted my experience that 'I was' 100% sure.
