    You need to 'turn off' Windows 8.1 power setting and using standard (original) one. Create a TXT file and copy and paste below into it. Save it and rename TXT extension to reg. Double click it to run. Restart your unit after registry changed. You will have new (original) Windows Power setting screen. With this Power setting, you can turn off the screen but your T100 will NOT sleep.

    I have been using the same registry setting for all my Win 8.1 MiniPC (PIPO X7S, Aniol) / Tablet (Onda V919 Air 3G Dual OS, T100). So far so good.

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Power]
    "CsEnabled"=dword:00000000

    Below registry to revert back to original Win 8.1 power setting

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Power]
    "CsEnabled"=dword:00000001

    Well - i guess it's a serious omission from Microsoft when they came up with win 8.1
    just to save the battery - i need to turn the screen off and i doing so i put the entire PC to sleep - Great solution to save power !
    this is the issue with my acer iconia w4 and unfortunately i have two of them , now they are in the dump box with my money totally wasted !

    So frustrated was I that I have reverted back to my favourite Acer iconia w500 which is fabulous with win 7 on it , it may not have a great battery life [3-4 hrs] but i set the settings for screen off [ 2min] and sleep [never] for both 'on power' and 'on battery' and the screen turns off and the moment i 'touch' the screen - my screen is back and mind you - the pc never slept in between ! That's what i want from win 8.1

    I guess it'd be better to stay away from win 8.1 PCs unless they fix the issue with some kind of service pack or wait and watch for the upcoming windows 10 in july

    But really shame on win 8.1 designers - probably they were on dope when designing the win 8.1 OS [read mess]

    I'll have to try this! Windows + P works for short amounts of time with screen off, but not for anything more than around 20 sec. So do you create the .txt file and then import it into registry editor? How do you then shut the screen off? Does this put the real hibertation (vista xp win7) back in too(just curious as I use hibernation through cmmnd prompt : shutdown/h )?

    What I did was go into the power profile settings, and set everything to "Always ON". Then downloaded a program made by redmond pie called "TurnOffLCD" and put it on my desktop and a short-cut on the Start screen, where just clicking on that program will turn the display off. Problem solved. The T100 doesn't go to sleep and the display is turned off to save on battery. You could also just do the 1st part of setting the Power profile settings to Always on and then just turn the display brightness down as far as it will go. It won't go completely black in that second instance, but it does considerably save on battery consumption.
