    Blue screen of death

    Hi. I have updated all the drivers and upgraded my bios the the new 223 revision. I keep getting a blue screen of death saying "DPC Watchdog Violation" Any ideas of what may be causing this. When i hit the home button, the blue screen appears. Thanks!

    googling the error shows a number of fixes. being you stated all drivers are up to date..

    DPC_Watchdog_Viloation stop error in Windows 8 mostly indicates issues with netr6164.sys file, and the error has the BUCKET_ID of 0x133_DPC_netr6164+81b6. This error is generally caused because of inappropriate or outdated wireless NIC drivers that are installed on the computer.
    However, since the issue can also be generated due to some hard disk errors, administrators should first scan the hard disk drive for any issues that it may have. In case this method fails, administrators should then remove the existing wireless LAN card drivers, and they should install the latest ones that are mostly available on the wireless LAN card driversí vendorís official website.

    How to Enable Legacy Advanced Boot Menu
    To enable legacy advanced boot menu in Windows 8, step-by-step instructions are given below:

    1.Restart the Windows 8 computer.

    2.Enter into the BIOS setup and configure the system to boot from CD/DVD Drive.

    3.Save the modified settings in BIOS and reboot the computer.

    4.Insert Microsoft Windows 8 bootable installation DVD into the optical media drive (CD/DVD Drive).

    12.On C: prompt, type BCDEDIT /SET {DEFAULT} BOOTMENUPOLICY LEGACY command, and press Enter to enable legacy advanced boot menu.




    13.Once the command executed successfully, type EXIT command to close the command prompt window.

    14.Back on the Choose an option screen, click Continue to restart Windows 8 computer.

    15.Eject Windows 8 installation DVD from the optical media drive when done.

















    Method 1
    How to Check Hard Disk Drive for Errors

    In order to check hard disk drive for errors, step-by-step instructions given below must be followed:
    1.As the computer restarts, press F8 key continuously to display the Advanced Boot Options screen.

    2.On Advanced Boot Options screen, select Safe Mode by pressing down arrow and press Enter to start Windows 8 computer in safe mode.

    3.Once started in safe mode, log on to Windows 8 computer with the administrator account.

    4.Click Desktop tile from the Start screen to go to the desktop window.

    5.Once on the desktop screen, hover mouse to the bottom right corner of the window.

    6.From the displayed options, click Search.

    7.On the opened Search pane in the right, ensure that Apps category.

    8.On the same pane, type CMD in Apps field.

    9.From the displayed results on Apps window, right-click Command Prompt.

    10.From the displayed advanced options at the bottom of the window, click Run as administrator.

    11.On the displayed User Account Control box, click Yes to provide the administrator approval to open the command prompt.

    12.On command prompt window, type CHKDSK C: /F /R command and press Enter.

    13.On the displayed confirmation message, type Y to allow the Windows to check the disk the next time when the computer restarts.




    14.Close the command prompt window and restart the computer to start the disk checking process.

















    Method 2
    How to Restore a Windows 8 Computer to an Earlier Restore Point


    To restore a Windows 8 computer to an earlier restore point, step-by-step instructions given below must be followed:
    1.As the computer restarts, press F8 key continuously to display the Advanced Boot Options screen.

    2.On Advanced Boot Options screen, select Safe Mode by pressing down arrow and press Enter to start Windows 8 computer in safe mode.

    3.Once started in safe mode, log on to Windows 8 computer with the administrator account.

    4.Click Desktop tile from the Start screen to go to the desktop screen.

    5.Once on the desktop screen, click File Explorer icon from the taskbar.

    6.On the opened Libraries window, right-click Computer from the left pane.

    7.From the context menu that appears, click Manage.

    8.On Computer Management snap-in, from the left pane, click Device Manager.

    9.From the right pane, expand Network adapters tree.

    10.From the displayed list, right-click the problematic wireless NIC.

    11.From the displayed context menu, click Uninstall and follow on-screen instructions to remove the problematic wireless LAN card driver.

    12.Once removed, install the updated driver to experience the flawless functioning of Windows 8.















    Note: If the computer has more than one wireless NICs, administrators might require following the above steps individually for each LAN card until the issue is resolved.
