    WiFi 65mbps on n wireless

    Hi All,

I am using a Billion 7300n ADSL2+ router at home and i just notice that my wifi speed is maxed out on 65mbps. is this normal for the t100?

Not sure if this is an issue with the T100 or my AP?

What speeds are you guys getting on wifi?

    thanks!

normal. the only way to increase it is to switch it to 20/40 mode but ONLY if you router supports it (eg N300). if not it will drop to 24Mbps

The Broadcom driver defaults to 20mhz mode. Just go to properties->advanced and one of the options is a/b/g 20/40Mhz. Set that.

On a personal note I found that mine (and at least a small number of other) users have problems with the .187 drivers using 40Mhz mode that cause severe connection stability issues. Falling back to the Microsoft Signed .168 drivers solved the problem. In addition to selecting a/b/g 20/40Mhz mode you can also change 20/40Mhz coexistance to enabled from auto and WMM from auto to enabled also.

I at least found that my speeds went from around 7.5MB/sec with just 40Mhz (150Mbps) enabled to around 9 or so MB/sec by also enabling coexistance and WMM instead of leaving them in auto. The .168 drivers have a bug where your Wifi connection speed will always show 24Mbps when you have 40Mhz enabled no matter the actual connection speed (its generally connecting faster, trust me. 9.5MB/sec and I sometimes see it spike up to 11MB/sec works out to about 75-88Mbps, way beyond what 65Mbps could be theoretically capable, ignoring overhead, and light years beyond the 24Mbps displayed connection speed under network status).

.187 shows the correct connection speed, is maybe, possibly a hair faster, but for me network connectivty dies after 20 minutes to 2hrs and requires a reboot to restore it. Not so with .168.
